I've negelcted this page for quite awhile but I'll try to turn that around. I usually use Instagram to share photos since its engagement is a bit more accessible.

But the issue is I haven't had much time to take pictures now that classes are in full swing and Instragram has already seen all the ones I have taken.

This one is from an early June sunrise at Rural Retreat Lake

I keep telling myself I'm going to be more active on this page but I don't want to rehash the same kind of posts I make on Instagram. I want this page to be different. Somehow. I haven't figured out how yet.

Despite the few beautiful (and many rainy) days we've had lately, I have been quite lazy in exploring around with the camera. I've been telling myself I've just been practicing my "seeing" as I like to call it. Sometimes when you free your mind from your camera, you see compositions you never would have spotted before. Sometimes I love taking a long ride and trying to spot as many pictures I wish I could have taken as I can. At times you can learn so much more from the idea of an image than you can the image itself.

But I probably say that as an excuse for the laziness. Until it subsides, I think I'll share a few pictures over the last couple of years that have stuck around on my hard drive.

This one is from last summer. Specifically the end of last summer. It always reminds me of the John Prine song.

I was so fortunate that day to have witnessed the light show nature had conjured above the lake. The entire sky turned a deep shade of red on the bottoms of clouds that cascaded to the horizon. This particular cloud stalked the evening as it loomed over the mountains. Looking more like a spaceship than anything else.

It was one of the most beautiful sunsets I was treated to last year but this image always looked somber to me. If you look closely, you can spot some leaves losing their color and beginning to fade. Both the season and the evening were coming to an end. Plus there is always something bittersweet about a beautiful scene presented to a pair of empty benches. Devoid of an audience.

Sitting and chatting with Daniel Artistic Kindling about his gorgeous work and marquetry was one of the most interesting evenings I had in 2019. He's one of the nicest people I've ever met and I learned so much about a very unique craft. Definitely check out his page
