Another successful tram tour at Maxwell Wildlife Refuge/The Friends of Maxwell this morning. We had guests from Arizona and Minnesota! The elk didn't come in this morning, but were hanging out on a hillside off the road. Thank goodness for a big lens!

This past Saturday morning, I helped lead a group of photographers on a "Freeze Your Buns Off" outing at Maxwell Wildlife Refuge. The air was crisp, but not overly cold, and the sunrise was beautiful. The elk ended up stealing the show!

We took a drive to Maxwell Wildlife Refuge/The Friends of Maxwell a couple of days after the snowfall and were fortunate that the bison and some of the elk were near the road. They are hardy, tough animals!

Eagle eye wife Lori did it again! We were strolling in our neighborhood, and suddenly she stopped and says "do you hear that?" I heard nothing, but she says, "there's cedar waxwings somewhere close by." Sure enough, a small flock of them were moving in the trees. I got a few pics of them before they moved on. I love these little bandits!

Dawn's early light. The sun was just starting to make its appearance this morning, when the ghost of the Merry Meadow made his way out of the shadows into the early morning light. He was intently watching a smaller buck that was cruising around. Pretty cool sight.
