Some people think photographers just pocket the price they pay for a package. The honest truth is — our job doesn’t end after snapping your pictures, and it definitely didn’t begin when your session started.
For those of us with studios, there are countless hours spent preparing days in advance. Our studios are filled with inventory used specifically for your session. Cameras and lenses require maintenance, and with how fast technology changes, upgrades become necessary — and incredibly expensive. Backdrops, lighting, props, wraps, outfits, client closets… it all adds up fast.
Then comes post-processing. After your session, I hand-edit every culled image with care and intention. Sometimes your gallery takes a day. Sometimes I spend an entire week pouring into your images to make sure they’re beautiful and complete.
And beyond all of that are the behind-the-scenes business expenses most people never see — subscriptions, CRM systems, website and SEO fees, insurance, education, software, taxes, marketing, and more.
What I’m getting at is this: time is money. And aside from the investment I’ve already poured into my business, the costs continue to rise every single year.
So the next time you look at a photographer’s pricing — especially for Weddings, Newborns, and Seniors — please know that most of us are not getting rich from this. In truth, many of us barely break even.
I do this because it’s my passion. I genuinely love creating art, capturing memories, and making people feel beautiful and seen. That part will never change.
With that being said, starting this summer, my pricing will be increasing. With the cost of everything continuing to rise, it has become necessary for me to sustainably continue doing what I love.
If you are already on my calendar, your current pricing is locked in. Beginning June 1st, my pricing guide will look a little different.
Thank you to everyone who has supported me this far. You are truly my people, and I appreciate you more than you know.
I look forward to seeing all of you soon 🤍
