Originally from southwest Florida, I currently live in Marrero, Louisiana. I moved to New Orleans by myself for no particular reason at all over 8 years ago. I met a Cajun boy, fell in love and made my home here. When I'm not photographing families, I'm with my own, getting dirty in our garden or helping my husband with his crawfish catering business.

When I was an adolescent I was obsessed with the idea of a home being an extension of who you are...and quite frankly I still am. It's kind of no surprise I would find such solace in creating a business where I could enter so many beautiful homes and document families in a way that captures more than the traditional JCPenny portrait ever could.

Growing a bug-free garden isn't the goal.
We NEED pollinators but pests like army worms, caterpillars, and destructive beetles can make it feel like a losing battle worthy of pesticides deemed "safe" like Seven dust. But I'm here to tell you the secret to managing the pests in your garden: wasps!

Growing up I too was once (naively) afraid of these creatures. Seriously, who wants to get stung by one! But did you know
1) only females can sting you
2) many species of wasps actually recognize faces

So when you pretend they aren't there, they'll fly right on past you straight to the bugs tearing up your garden.

This is the only thing I use for pest control and guess who isn't out in their garden hand picking bugs 👋

We have hundreds of wasps throughout our yard and two toddlers that play outside every day and so far we all remain free of any casualties.

So next time you're tempted to knock down that wasps nest, thank them for their service instead 💕

Laboring by candlelight is a mood.

I'm also loving how many dads are advocating for home births these days. Every time I have a consult and hear that it was their husband or partner's desire for them to birth at home I am elated. Elated because I know it's going to be a birth filled with love and support. 🥹

Research has shown that when a partner is actively involved during labor and birth, outcomes improve for both mother and baby.

Studies have found that continuous support during labor is associated with:

• Lower rates of cesarean birth
• Reduced need for pain medication
• Shorter labors
• Higher satisfaction with the birth experience
• Better maternal emotional wellbeing after birth
• Higher rates of breastfeeding

For many families, dad is more than just a witness to the birth. He becomes an anchor. A steady hand. A familiar voice. A source of comfort when everything feels intense and uncertain.

I’ve watched fathers hold their partners during the intensity of contractions, advocate for their wishes, wipe away tears, catch their babies, and step into parenthood in real time.

Only an hour old and an absolute model.

Your birth story includes up to two hours of post-partum coverage because there's so much that happens after the main event. Golden hour, first latch, the newborn exam, skin to skin with dad.

Hi thereeee,

For those of you who I've yet to meet, allow me to introduce myself. My name is Autumn, and I am from SW Florida. I've been in New Orleans for over a decade. One day I just decided I wanted to move away to somewhere new by myself just because. A rare instance I let go of my impulse control.

I found a Cajun and made two Cajun babies. Birthed them on my bathroom floor (10/10 would do again) and have been slowly building a quiet life on the West Bank.

I'm quite the perfectionist (I'm a Libra okayyyyy) but I chose gardening to be my one area of chaos. I throw seeds around, build everything from reclaimed materials, and don't worry about having a picture-perfect garden. I aim for my children's fondest memories of me to be of us getting dirty and just watching the bugs do their little bug things.

I love photographing births, and all things birth adjacent. I want to capture the moments that happen all the time until they no longer do. A moment in time that cannot be replicated. Portraits captured in the wild of your home.

A family of three became a family of five 🥲

A well-rested mom birthed both babies exactly how she wanted and were they ever so eager to meet her!

I was honored to photograph her first birth as well, and something I just love is how much more involved and confident dads are when it's the second go around. We love to see it 🥹

Building a life that my children won't have to heal from is one of my greatest ambitions.

Instead there are always flowers blooming, art and music being made, daily dance parties, and love - lots of love.
