Happy Mother’s Day to all the moms and mom-like figures out there.

Am eternally grateful that me & my brother were able to spend the past few days with my mom in the Low Country.

She’s had a rough 9 months & that tough patch made this visit all the more sweet.

Not to mention spoiling her with all the floral gifts from a peony bouquet I put together that rivaled the florist-made flowers we sent her for her birthday (her words, not mine) to the tea towels I had made featuring pics I took at the Tulip Festival. (Not pictured: Virginia is for Tulip Lovers ❤️ tote bag).

Virginia is most definitely for tulip lovers 💕.

So glad we were able to make it to Bloomia Flowers first Tulip Festival yesterday. Even with the bulbs showing signs of the end of the season, it was still worth the stop in King George, outside of Fredericksburg.

The unusual varietals were a highlight for me. Anything you don’t normally see always catches my eye. And usually ends up in a vase at home.

🌷Fun flower fact…if you’ve ever picked up tulips at Wegman’s then you’ve purchased their tulips.

When we started out across from the Jefferson Memorial I wasn't really feeling "it".

Lots of people angling for "the" shot of the Jefferson and the Cherry Blossoms. And I was taking photos similar to those I'd taken in the past. I was bored.

So we started walking. I didn't know what we were going to find, but I knew it wasn't where we were currently standing.

And that's when the magic happened. 🪄🪄🪄

I think the west side of the Tidal Basin might be my new favorite spot. Especially at peak bloom. 🌸 🌸 🌸
