Tonight’s session was a little extra special with these girls and their family.

I’ve known these two since they were babies. Their parents are friends of ours, and I was even at the hospital the day one of these girls was born. I remember them as little kids, and somehow they’re teenagers now.

It’s pretty special to have known a family for so many years and to get to photograph these milestones for them along the way.

And of course, we had to get a selfie, too. ❤️ Sneak peeks to come soon.

Toward the end of their Mr. and Mrs. portraits, something shifted.

They were becoming more comfortable in front of the camera, and at some point, I think they just forgot I was there.

They were completely caught up in each other.

Just married.
In love.
And totally in awe of each other.

I didn't pose this moment. I just let it happen.

Mitchell + Betsy 🤍

These two were SO happy to be in front of the camera, which made my photographer heart happy.

They chose to save that first glimpse of each other for the aisle. And instead of having us there early for all of the pre-ceremony photos, they wanted us there to capture the celebration, the evening, and ultimately their exit.

I loved being there for the way they chose to experience their day... and that final send-off was such a fun way to end it.

Today was a lot.

This morning we said goodbye to my grandma, and then the day quickly turned into a wedding day for us filled with lots of scouting and shooting.

Two very different parts of life, all in one Saturday.

I'm tired tonight, but grateful...for family, for the people who trust us with their memories, and for the opportunity to do what we love together. 🤍

I closed late for school tonight and am now home getting things ready for a wedding tomorrow and listening to the first home football game on the radio.

And as I’m listening, I keep thinking about how neat it is that we got a little extra time with some of these seniors during their banner session this year. Several of them played with my nephew last year, so after spending that extra time talking, laughing, and getting to know them, it feels different listening to them play tonight.

We may not be in the stands, but we’re listening and cheering them on from here. ❤️

One of my favorite things about what we do isn't always the pictures. Sometimes it's the people we get to know along the way.

Not every senior loves having their picture taken.

Some are excited and ready to go.
Others tell me, “I’m awkward in pictures,” or have no idea what to do once the camera comes out.

And that’s okay.

You don’t have to know how to pose. You don’t have to know what looks good. That’s my job.

I’ll guide you when you need direction, but I also want to give you space to just be yourself.

Because I don’t want your senior gallery to be a bunch of poses that could belong to anyone.

I want to see YOU in the pictures.

It’s your senior session. Let’s make it feel like you. 🤍

Hey friends!

This is me... being completely normal with my nephew in snapchat 🤣

But seriously, I’ve noticed so many of you here lately...commenting, laughing, and supporting me and my photography. And I just want to say THANK YOU! ❤️

Today, we were driving down a country road in another state when a guy coming toward us waved.

Maelyn asked, “Who was that?”

I said, “Some of us just wave.” 😂👋

And honestly, that pretty much sums up small-town life.

If I know you, I’m probably waving at you from my car. I don't care if I'm in Marshall, Indiana, Illinois… or somewhere completely random.

Which is probably why we have had a running joke going with a friend for more than TWO YEARS because he STILL has not successfully waved back at us. 😂

We have waved from the car.
We have waved at stoplights.
We've even waved when he was practically right in front of us.

Nothing.

At this point, we're not even sure we're trying to get the wave anymore. We're just committed to the streak. 😂

So apparently there are two kinds of people in this world:

Those who wave… and those who apparently need a little more practice. 👋😂
