Who am I? by Jim Annunziato
I am part of a fantastic group of silent creative contributors. A group that thrives in the low light of a control room, illuminated only by the flashing of the tiny LED lights of a console and the soft glow of a computer screen. We are music's worker bee. Microphones and hard drives are our instruments. Our only acknowledgement is a tiny mention on a cover of an album in a paragraph after the words "engineered by". We slave endlessly on making every little sound the best it can be for an audience that wouldn't really be able to tell the difference. But can feel when it is wrong. Meticulous is our lifestyle. Our reward is the mix. We do what we do because the solution is our life. Music is in our walk and in our talk. It has penetrated our existence and our every conversation. It is our release. From the excitement of preproduction to the glory of the mix, the process is our everyday. We are the footnotes of music history. Who am I, you ask?
