I’ve photographed Claudia through so many chapters of her life.

Long before the boys.
Before all the beautiful chaos that comes with raising a family.
Through milestones, celebrations, and seasons that now feel like memories in the blink of an eye.

And while I absolutely love creating the portraits, my favorite part comes later.

It’s seeing those moments become something tangible.

Nobody knows what to do with their hands 👋

The good news? That’s my job.

One of my favorite posing tricks is turning the hand slightly so we see the side instead of the back. It creates longer, more flattering lines and instantly feels more natural.

It’s a tiny detail, but portraits are built on tiny details. ✨📸

When she came in for her studio tour, we already knew we wanted to create something draped and elegant.

In previous sessions, we’d used linen, but this time we wanted something softer, more fluid, and a little more ethereal.

The olive tone immediately felt right for her. It complemented her complexion beautifully and paired perfectly with her hair. The only problem? I only had a small piece of the fabric in the studio.

So off to the fabric store I went.

I found more of the same silk chiffon, one of my favorite fabrics to work with because it’s incredibly lightweight, soft, and creates beautiful movement. It flows effortlessly and photographs like a dream.

What began as a bolt of fabric and an idea became one of my favorite portraits from her session.
