3 years ago today, West Virginia State Police Sgt. Cory Maynard was shot and killed in the line of duty while responding to a call for service in Mingo County West Virginia.

May we never forget the ultimate sacrifice by Sgt Maynard while serving his State & Community.

“Today is the nine-year anniversary of the passing of Lieutenant A.L. Crook. He was killed in the line of duty on May 30, 2017, while assisting officers in the vehicle pursuit of a drunk driver. He left behind his wife and two beautiful children, endless family members, and his brothers at Bluefield Police Department. His memory will remain alive within this department forever and he is missed beyond words. Lift his family in prayer today. The loss they suffered is unimaginable.” - Bluefield, WV Police Department

Today was another eventful day at our Board Meeting for our Police Department!

We were proud to officially swear in three new officers to our department: Patrolman CR Taylor, Patrolman MC Hughes and Patrolman AP Simpkins.

Please join us in welcoming these officers as they begin their service to our community. We are excited to have them on board and look forward to the dedication, professionalism, and commitment they will bring to the City of Bluefield.
