Eva | Class of 2027 🤍

Eva is documenting her senior year through a multi-session senior experience, and getting to be the one capturing these memories for her is incredibly special.

Her mom and I have been friends since we were ~11 years old, so standing behind the camera and photographing her daughter during such an important season of life feels a little surreal. It’s one of those full-circle moments that reminds me why I love what I do.

For Eva's first session, we focused on creating images that felt natural, genuine, and true to who she is right now. One of the things I love most about working with seniors over multiple sessions is that there's no pressure to fit their entire story into a single evening. We get the opportunity to slow down, capture different sides of their personality, and document how this season unfolds throughout the year.

Senior year is about so much more than graduation. It's a year filled with growth, change, milestones, and memories that deserve to be preserved. Through multiple sessions, we're able to capture not only how seniors look during this chapter, but who they are becoming.

Eva brought such a sweet energy to her session, and I already know this is only the beginning of an amazing senior year story. I cannot wait to see what we create together in the months ahead.

Eva, thank you for trusting me to document this season of your life. Being part of your journey means more than you know, and I am already counting down the days until your next session.

Makenzie | Class of 2027

Makenzie is documenting her senior year through a multi-session senior experience.

When Makenzie arrived for her first session, she was understandably nervous and unsure of what to expect. Honestly, that’s something I hear from so many seniors before stepping in front of the camera, which is exactly why creating a relaxed, fully guided experience is so important to me.

As the session went on, she started trusting the process, letting go of the pressure to be “perfect,” and simply enjoying the moment. Watching her confidence grow throughout the evening was such a rewarding thing to witness. By the end of the session, she was laughing, having fun, and completely settling into herself in front of the camera.

One of my favorite parts of what I do is helping seniors realize they don’t need to know exactly how to pose to create beautiful, authentic images. My job is to guide them every step of the way so they can feel comfortable, confident, and truly themselves.

Makenzie completely embraced the experience, and seeing how excited she already is for her next session makes me even more excited to continue documenting this season for her.

One of the things I love most about offering multiple sessions throughout senior year is the opportunity to tell a fuller story. Each session captures a different side of their personality and a different season of life, from summer sunsets and fall colors to winter textures and spring blooms. It creates space for seniors to slow down, be present, and truly document this once-in-a-lifetime chapter in a meaningful way.

Makenzie, you are absolutely beautiful, and I already cannot wait for your next session!

One of the biggest priorities during the Haynes family session was creating images that felt real to them, authentic moments, genuine connection, and the kind of memories that never feel forced or overly posed.

When families tell me they want candid, natural portraits, that doesn’t mean I simply stand back and wait for moments to happen. It’s actually my job to creatively guide the session in a way that allows those real interactions to unfold naturally.

The laughter, the snuggles, the playful moments, the quiet in-between connections, those are the moments I’m always watching for and intentionally creating space for throughout a session.

Instead of stiff poses or forced smiles, we focused on movement, conversation, and simply being together. Because the most meaningful portraits are often the ones that feel the most like you.

Years from now, these images won’t just serve as a reminder of what this season of life looked like for them. They’ll remember how it felt, the way their children fit in their arms, the laughter they shared, and the joy of simply spending time together.

These are the kinds of timeless memories that only become more valuable with time, and being trusted to preserve them is something I never take lightly.

One of my favorite things about photographing families is getting to work with children at every stage, from energetic 5-year-olds full of curiosity and laughter to teenagers who are slowly growing into who they’re meant to become right before our eyes.

Kat’s beautiful children range from ages 5 to 15, and I had the honor of photographing them a few years ago as well. Seeing how much they’ve grown and changed in what feels like such a short amount of time was incredibly special to witness.

What I love most about sessions like this is that no two children are the same, and they shouldn’t be approached that way. The way I interact with a shy child is different from the way I connect with the outgoing one who keeps everyone laughing. Younger children often need space to play and explore, while older kids usually just need the freedom to relax and be themselves. Part of my job is learning each child’s personality, adjusting my approach to what they need, and creating an environment where their genuine connection and individuality can naturally shine through.

Years from now, these photographs won’t just remind Kat and her children what everyone looked like in this season of life. They’ll remember the laughter, the chaos, the inside jokes, the cuddles, and how much fun they had simply being together while creating these memories.

Kat, thank you for trusting me to capture these moments for your family and for allowing me to be a small part of these core memories. It truly means more than I can put into words.

One of the questions I get asked most often is, “When’s the best time to schedule senior portraits?”

The truth is, there’s no one “right” answer. It all comes down to the vibe you’re going for and how you want your session to feel.

Summer gives you that golden glow and lush greenery, fall brings all the cozy warm tones, and spring is soft and fresh. Every season tells a different story, and that’s what makes senior sessions so personal.

No matter when you decide to schedule, my biggest advice is to schedule early, even if your session is still a few months away. Dates fill quickly, especially during peak senior season, and planning ahead gives us the best chance to bring your vision to life.

There are some sessions and events that mean a little more personally, and this was one of them.

I recently had the honor of capturing the 60 Year Celebration luncheon for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Dane County, and it was incredibly special to me because when I was younger, I had a Big Sister myself.

To now be in a position where I could give back in some small way by documenting such an important event felt full circle. The impact these relationships can have on a child’s life is real, and getting to witness and capture the heart behind this organization was something I’m truly grateful for. 🤍

There’s something very special about photographing a graduation session, but nursing school graduations carry a different kind of weight. Behind every cap and gown is years of sacrifice, long nights, clinicals, exams, stress, determination, and an unwavering commitment to caring for others.

Getting to capture this milestone for Bailey was such an honor. Watching the excitement, pride, and relief finally come together in these photos reminded me why I love what I do so much.

And can we talk about how much fun we had bringing some creative ideas to life? From the creative images to the little details that made the session feel uniquely her, it was the perfect mix of meaningful and fun.

To the newest registered nurse, Bailey, congratulations on everything you’ve accomplished. The world needs more compassionate people like you, and I have no doubt you’re going to do incredible things. 🤍

Renee was just so adorable we couldn’t resist sneaking in a few photos while we waited for mom to get ready.

Sometimes the unplanned moments end up being everyone’s favorites. The smiles, the curiosity, the personality, this is exactly why I always keep my camera ready.

Mother’s Day gifts tend to come and go, but portraits become part of a family’s story.

As moms, we’re usually the ones behind the camera making sure everyone else is documented while rarely stepping into the frame ourselves. A portrait session is more than just photos, it’s a chance to preserve this season of life exactly as it is right now. The hugs, the laughter, the connection, and all the moments your family will want to look back on years from now.

Whether it’s updated family portraits, a motherhood session with your babies, or even a multi-generation session with grandma included, giving the gift of memories is something that only grows more valuable with time.

This Mother’s Day, consider giving mom something meaningful, the chance to be present in the memories she works so hard to create every day. 🤍

If you’ve been thinking about scheduling a session, I’d love to help create something authentic and personal for your family.

There’s something really powerful about being able to step outside of your usual lane as a photographer and fully step into what your client needs, and that’s something I don’t take lightly.

While a lot of my work centers around senior portraits and families, sessions like this are a reminder of why I do what I do. It’s never just about the niche for me, it’s about the person in front of my camera. Taking the time to understand who they are, what they’re building, and how they want to be seen is what allows me to create something that actually feels like them.

When Miriam told me about wanting to re-launching her campaign focused on creating transformational portrait experiences for women over 50, I knew right away this wasn’t going to be a typical branding session. She didn’t want anything overly polished or traditional. She wanted something honest. Grounded. Real.

That’s where I lean in.

Before we ever picked up the camera, we spent time talking about her vision, what this chapter means to her, how she connects with the women she serves, and what she wanted these images to communicate. That understanding is what allows me to shift my approach and create images that align with something deeper than just “branding.” From there, everything we did was intentional. We kept things simple, clean lines, soft natural light, nothing distracting, so her presence could come through in a way that felt effortless and true to who she is.

For me, that’s what branding sessions should be. Not staged or forced, but rooted in authenticity and aligned with the story you’re telling.

Being able to move between different types of sessions and still create something meaningful comes down to connection. When I understand my clients, I can create images that don’t just look good, they feel right.

Miriam, thank you for trusting me with something so personal. It was an honor to help bring your vision to life and document this next chapter in a way that feels true to you.
