I photographed this maternity session at Great Falls Park last week, and I couldn't get over how beautiful everything was! The scenery showed up so well in these images, but even more than that, it was a joy to capture the connection between these two as they prepare to welcome their little one 🥹🩷

I had the opportunity to photograph Brother Kenneth Muhammad (pictured on the right) and Brother Geneo Jamal Wali (pictured on the left) and learn more about the work they do in their communities.

During our conversation, Geneo shared that “the prison reform ministry is one of nine ministries within the Nation of Islam” and spoke about helping people as they return home from incarceration by connecting them with things like “housing, clothing, food, shelter and things like that.”

Kenneth described himself as a “community foot soldier.” He talked about how the work starts by “going to where the needs are,” something that was reflected throughout both of their stories

One of the things I love most about photography is the chances I get to learn from someone else’s experiences. Listening to them speak so passionately about their faith and experiences was truly inspiring. I’m grateful they trusted me with their stories and allowed me to create these portraits.
