Opal Hackbert is shown here on the left in one of her black and white images, she was a world traveler. In the late 1960‘s and throughout the 70’s Opal traveled to many countries such as Japan, London, Paris, Italy, as well as many other places. Upon her return home she would share with her grandkid's the wonderful stories of the places she had been and the people she had met. Opal always made sure she had plenty of pictures to show them. After Opal's passing in 2011 at the age of 88 yrs old many of her pictures and belongings were boxed up and put into storage. Occasionally her photo albums were brought out at family gatherings and the fond memories of Opal's travels and life would be revisited, but as time went on they were brought out less and less until it seemed they were destined to sit in storage and collect dust. Opal touched so many people’s lives but more importantly their hearts, so it was decided recently in memory of Opal to create one more picture to celebrate her and her passion for traveling. This image was created not to be packed away in storage but to be displayed for all who loved her, and for many to see and remember her and her great adventures. This final image is very special to me because Opal was my grandmother, and the memory of her and all that she did will be with me forever. I would like to encourage you to not let the memories of someone you loved fade away forever. I would love to meet with you and help you create an image that can be displayed in their honor, one that could be cherished by all.
