There are three images here similar but so different. The scenes, The Lighting, The styles all beautifully elegant. All the little details from the flow of a dress to the way the ice sits in the cup. The models so comfortable and confident. Look at each scene specifically pieced together for each individual shoot. One small space with all the the right imagination and tools can go a long way. Photography is an astonishing art. We at Darin Hayes photography strive for nothing more then above and beyond.

This was a super fun shoot. We took the logo for Dave's Home Supply and created a superman logo with it for this photo session. The idea was to create a grunge superhero look with an underlay message. Even in the darkest hours of your home remodel project, Daves Home Supply is there for you! Posing for the picture is David Hibbard, Owner of Dave's Home Supply, coordinator for costume and setup is Rene Valenzuela. Photography by Darin Hayes.

This photoshoot is my second shoot with Ashley, and she's always a pleasure to photograph. Her facial expressions are great. They're super intense and moody. The location was perfect, a nicely shaded area under an old bridge in Gold Hill. The sun was getting low in the sky, and it provided me with some great backlighting. The late-day sun also reflected off the Rouge River nicely. I added just a pop of flash to bring the entire picture together.

I thought I better crackdown and take a self-portrait that my website company needs for my new site they're building. Some old metal roofing, rope lights, and a black backdrop worked well to get the job done. Lucy S Bugarin

Trying to find someplace to shoot on a rainy day can sometimes be a bit difficult. But I think this location lent its self well for such a shoot. My hat is off to my model Rene Dee Valenzuela, with 12 mile and hour winds and a cool temperature of 45 degrees; she held it together nicely! Lucy S Bugarin

Opal Hackbert is shown here on the left in one of her black and white images, she was a world traveler. In the late 1960‘s and throughout the 70’s Opal traveled to many countries such as Japan, London, Paris, Italy, as well as many other places. Upon her return home she would share with her grandkid's the wonderful stories of the places she had been and the people she had met. Opal always made sure she had plenty of pictures to show them. After Opal's passing in 2011 at the age of 88 yrs old many of her pictures and belongings were boxed up and put into storage. Occasionally her photo albums were brought out at family gatherings and the fond memories of Opal's travels and life would be revisited, but as time went on they were brought out less and less until it seemed they were destined to sit in storage and collect dust. Opal touched so many people’s lives but more importantly their hearts, so it was decided recently in memory of Opal to create one more picture to celebrate her and her passion for traveling. This image was created not to be packed away in storage but to be displayed for all who loved her, and for many to see and remember her and her great adventures. This final image is very special to me because Opal was my grandmother, and the memory of her and all that she did will be with me forever. I would like to encourage you to not let the memories of someone you loved fade away forever. I would love to meet with you and help you create an image that can be displayed in their honor, one that could be cherished by all.

Shooting in the harsh midday sun can be one of the trickiest things to do. The key is positioning your subject so that the sun works in your favor. In these images, I placed my model so that the sun was directly behind her. Then using off camera flash while mounted into a rectangular softbox I was able to reduce the amount of ambient light that was around her and use the flash to correctly light her face and upper body. Off camera flash is one of my favorite ways to shot portraits. This method of photography allows me to control the light on my subject and helps create the mood in the image I'm looking for. This particular portrait was shot in the late afternoon while it was still light outside. By using flash it enabled me to adjust the settings on my camera so that it looked like the picture was taken at night.

The roses in these images were once part of a beautiful bouquet of flowers, after about a week they were ready for disposal, but before disposing of them I wanted to see if I could create a couple of images. The first step was to clean them up, I removed any of the wilting petals and removed all of the dead leaves.
The photography setup was fairly simple, I placed one overhead softbox with constant light right above the roses to give them a high contrast look, next I placed a white bounce card next to the roses so that it would act as a fill light and reflect light back into the front of the flowers. The white roses were replaced on top of wood panels that are normally used as a wall decoration and the red roses were placed on old corrugated metal purchased from ACME Garage antique store in Medford. The lights and backdrop are black fabric and Christmas lights.
