Long Post Alert- but I feel it needs to be said!! Just how I feel - not trying to pick a fight with every A.D. in a 50 mile radius. 🤣🤣🤣
📸 Can we talk about “Media Days” for a minute?
I hear this every once in a while when I bring up doing these kinds of photos with our local sports teams:
“That’s more of a college thing.”
But… why?
Seriously. Why do we think kids have to be playing college athletics before they deserve photos that make them feel like absolute BADASSES?
I grabbed my son Logan (who is somehow a SENIOR and I'm completely fine with that- definitely not crying🥺), along with two of his besties, Parker and Axel, and we went out to the football field to play around with some lights and take some “media day” style photos.
And you know what?
We had a f-ing BLAST.
We picked poses. We screwed around. We laughed at each other. They hyped each other up. We tried ridiculous stuff. Some of it worked. Some of it didn't. And for a little while, three high school kids got to look and feel like the athletes they see all over ESPN and social media.
THAT'S the point.
These photos aren't “for colleges.”
They're for THE KIDS.
They're for the kid who has spent years practicing, lifting, running, getting knocked down and getting back up- DEDICATED to the sports they may never play again after high school.
They're for teammates who've grown up together.
They're for parents who suddenly realize that the little boy they used to drive to practice is standing in front of them wearing a SENIOR jersey. (STILL not crying🥺)
And yeah… they're also for Instagram. 😂 They're teenagers. Of course they want cool pictures to post. LET THEM.
Not every photo needs to be three rows of kids standing in front of a gym wall with their hands behind their backs.
Sometimes we can turn the lights down.
Add some color.
Add some smoke.
Get a little dramatic.
And let these kids feel like absolute rockstars.
They only get to be high school athletes once.
Maybe “Media Day” doesn't need to be a college thing.
Maybe it just needs to be a kid thing. ❤️
And judging by these three?
I'd say they understood the assignment. 🔥📸
Personal note- I've known these 3 for a long time. Love em all and couldn't have hand picked a better group to hang with for an evening. Proud of you boys- ALL of you. 💙💙💙
