One of the things I love most about photography is getting to step into a family's world for a little while. 🤍

I LOVE in-home sessions because they don't have to feel like a photo shoot. We can bake cookies together, paint pictures, build a gingerbread house, have a dance party in the living room, snuggle on the couch, or just spend time doing the things your family actually loves to do.

And honestly, some of my favorite images come from those in-between moments. The flour-covered little hands. The paint on their fingers. The way your kids laugh when Dad gets a little too silly. The cuddles that happen when nobody is thinking about the camera.

And with Christmas coming, I would LOVE to photograph more of these sessions! 🎄

This couple was SO much fun to photograph! 🤍

We headed out to Coe Lake for their maternity session, and I swear every time I’m there I wonder why I don’t photograph there more often. It is seriously SO beautiful!

It’s a bit of a drive for me, but 100% worth it every time. The light, the trees, the water and all of the beautiful little spots around the lake make it such a gorgeous location for a maternity session.

And these two made my job way too easy. So much laughter, so much connection and just the sweetest time together. 🥹

Last week I shared a little behind the scenes of me completely transforming the studio. I went from my lifestyle bed setup to a simple wainscoting wall and asked you all what you thought I was moving everything for…

Well… THIS was the session! 🤍

I absolutely love how this extended family session came together. Mom and Dad with their twin boys, one of their sons with his sweet wife and their two little ones. There is just something so special about having everyone together and preserving these seasons of life.

And this family is extra special to me because I’ve had the joy of photographing them through so many milestones already. I photographed their little girl’s newborn session, and I’ll be seeing her again soon for her cake smash! Her big brother also had the BEST Batman session with me last winter. 🥹

So getting to photograph them all together this time was pretty special.

We kept everything classic, simple and timeless with the wainscoting backdrop. No elaborate setup needed, just beautiful people, genuine connection and the relationships that make these photos so meaningful.

This is exactly why I love what I do. 🤍

I absolutely LOVE fall. 🍂🎃

Pumpkin coffee (shoot… I’m trying to cut back on the caffeine 😂), caramel apples, crisp mornings, cozy sweaters, and SOOOO much beautiful color.

And here I am sharing a senior session I photographed a few years ago, and I still love it. The colors were perfection, the light was beautiful, and this girl’s smile was just absolutely radiant. ✨

Fall is by far my favorite season to photograph. There is just something about those warm colors and beautiful golden light that makes every session feel extra special.

I want to talk about something that doesn’t get talked about nearly enough: postpartum depression, postpartum anxiety, and postpartum psychosis.

After having my first baby, I experienced postpartum anxiety. I remember how overwhelming those feelings could be, and how easy it was to wonder, “ Why am I feeling this way? Shouldn’t I just be happy?”

The truth is… you can love your baby deeply and still not feel okay.
You can be incredibly grateful and still struggle.
You can look like you have it all together while silently fighting something no one else can see.

If you are struggling with postpartum depression or anxiety, you are not alone. And you are not a bad mom. You deserve support. You deserve rest. You deserve to feel like yourself again.

And I especially want to mention postpartum psychosis because it can be frightening and is a medical emergency. If you or someone you love is experiencing hallucinations, delusions, severe confusion, paranoia, or feeling disconnected from reality after having a baby, please seek immediate medical help. You do not have to face that alone.

If you are in the thick of it right now, please hear me when I say this:

It is okay to not be okay.
It is okay to ask for help.
It is okay to tell someone you are struggling.
And it is okay to need more support than you thought you would.

I truly want to help however I can. If you are a new mom who is struggling, please reach out. You don’t have to pretend everything is fine with me. ❤️

You are worthy of feeling well during this new season of your life. And there is absolutely no shame in getting the help you deserve.

You are not alone.

A little studio transformation ✨

I loved having my lifestyle bed setup in the studio, but sometimes you just need a fresh look and a little more versatility!

So I moved ALL of this out and transformed this area into a beautiful blank wall with classic wainscoting. 🤍

I am already loving how clean and timeless this backdrop feels, and I have a feeling it’s going to be used for so many different sessions!

This session was extra special to me. 🤍

Mom wanted to recreate a memory she has with her older daughter, who is now a beautiful young woman. When she was little, her parents would sit on the edge of the bed with her. It was such a simple moment, but one that meant so much to their family.

So we recreated that same moment with her baby sister. 🥹

I truly love when families bring ideas like this to their sessions. It makes the photos so much more meaningful because they are not just pretty pictures, they are part of your family’s story.

This is one of the reasons my studio is one of my favorite places to photograph newborns. We can do the traditional posed newborn photos, but we can also slow down and capture those sweet lifestyle moments between parents, siblings and their new baby.

I want your newborn photos to be beautiful, but I also want them to mean something to you years from now.

There is just something so special about seeing a little girl wear her mama’s wedding dress. 🤍

She was SO excited to put on her mom’s dress and I loved watching her take it all in. These are the moments I love capturing during in home sessions. The excitement, the little details, the giggles and the connection between a mama and her babies.

Of course I had to capture some of them together too. 🥹 That sweet little nose to nose moment is one I will never get over.

I love that family photography does not have to be posed and perfect. Sometimes the sweetest images happen right in the middle of a cuddle, a giggle or a little moment between mama and her girl.

These are the memories you will want to hold onto forever. 🤍
