There is a tender kind of quiet in this small paper piece. A little house sits alone at the top of a soft green hill, surrounded by flowers and watched over by a bright, reaching sun. The title, “It’s Lonely at the Top,” gives the scene a bittersweet feeling: peaceful, but also a little lonesome.

“It’s Lonely at the Top,” 8x10 inch original acrylic painting on archival paper, is available here: .

An acrostic poem and a new work of art (of course) for the beginning of June.

June opens soft, with flowers reaching high,
Under bright paper skies, the colors sing.
New blossoms lean toward summer’s waiting sky,
Each petal tells the joy this season brings.

We had a wonderful time at this year’s Garden Walk in Hein Park. Thank you to the Ramsey family (Frasier too) for graciously hosting my artwork and making sure I had everything I needed.

I’m so grateful the rain held off during the tour, and it was a pleasure to see familiar faces and meet new ones. Thank you to everyone who stopped by, visited, shared a story, encouraged me, and purchased my work. Your support is truly a blessing.

In “She Had a Taste for Catfish,” I imagined a warm country evening filled with the little things I remember so well: a clothesline moving in the air, chickens roaming close to the house, cotton growing in the field, and the sun taking up half the sky.

The title makes me smile because it feels like somebody I might have known. Maybe she loved catfish fried crisp on the edges. Maybe she talked about it all day before supper. How about you? Does this remind you of anyone?

“She Had a Taste for Catfish,” 16"x20", original acrylic on archival paper is available here:

Exciting news to share: I will be participating again in this year’s Hein Park Garden Walk on Saturday, May 23, as part of Experience Memphis Gardens 2026.

I am so pleased and grateful to be invited back to share my artwork in such a beautiful setting. A special thank-you to Sharon, who first invited me years ago to share my work during this wonderful event. I will truly miss being at your home and on your porch this year.

This year, my work will have a new garden walk home, and I am so thankful to Mary Leslie for warmly hosting me. There is something very special about being surrounded by gardens, porches, old trees, neighbors, and all the little details that make Memphis feel like home. My paintings have always been rooted in memory, color, childhood, family, and the simple beauty of everyday life, so a garden walk feels like a natural place for the work to live for a little while.

I will have original artwork available for sale, and I would love for you to stop by, visit, look around, and enjoy the day. I’ll share more details this week, including times, exact setup information, and any rain-day updates.

Thank you, bunches, for continuing to support my work. I hope to see y’all in Hein Park.

Sharing What We Grow: Experience Memphis Gardens 2026 This is your invitation to Experience Memphis Gardens (EMG). This event is a city-wide celebration

The sun keeps finding its way into my paintings, sometimes in the title, sometimes larger in the sky, and sometimes just in the feeling of the piece.

“Sunny Side” feels like a reminder to keep looking toward the bright side. Maybe I’m painting what I’m feeling: grateful, expectant, and excited about a few opportunities coming later this year.

“Sunny Side”, original acrylic painting on canvas, is available in all its radiant glory.
