What started as a way to become more involved in the community after moving to Houston eventually became a 16-year journey using environmental portraits to help support one of the most important causes in my life.

My connection to the American Heart Association began in 2000, just a few years after my mom’s emergency triple-bypass surgery. After a 20-year battle with heart disease, she passed away in 2016. That personal connection gave deeper meaning to every campaign, every portrait, and every story along the way.

Over the years, both while living in Houston and now in Memphis, I photographed campaigns under the American Heart Association’s yearly Go Red For Women initiative — including Heart Throbs in Houston and Women of Impact in Memphis. The images were designed to do more than simply create portraits — they helped draw attention, spark curiosity, elevate community leaders, support fundraising efforts, and encourage people to learn more about women’s heart health.

Collectively, the campaigns have helped raise more than $7 million in support of education, research, advocacy, and women’s heart health initiatives.

On June 9, I’ll be speaking at the Jackson Photo Club about that journey:

PHOTOGRAPHY, PURPOSE AND THE POWER OF CONNECTION:
Leading Community Impact with Environmental Portraits

📅 Tuesday, June 9
⏰ 6:30 PM
📍 The Old Country Store, 56 Casey Jones Ln A., Jackson, TN

The public is invited to attend.

Grateful for the invitation from Jackson Photo Club and President Darrin Devault.
Looking forward to sharing the creative process and human side behind my work.

Memphis is full of strong women leaders — and these 11 are putting that leadership to work for a powerful cause.

The 2026 Mid-South Memphis Women of Impact honorees are raising awareness and critical funds in the fight against cardiovascular disease, the #1 killer of women.

When women lead with purpose, communities change.

I hope you’ll join me in supporting these remarkable women and this mission that is very close to my heart — no pun intended. ❤️

Not gonna lie—these guys brought serious prom energy.

No drama, no stress—just a crew of sharp-dressed gentlemen, soaking up the moment, hyping each other up, and yes… totally owning the camera.

We met up before Clear Lake High’s prom at the Butler Longhorn Museum, and I watched these guys transform from casual teens to GQ-level cool in a matter of minutes.

It’s always the small in-between moments for me—the laugh before the pose, the straightening of ties, the “is my collar right?” from one friend to another.

Prom isn’t just for the gowns.
These guys made memories too—and I’m grateful I got to freeze them in time.

Throwback to one of my favorite prom sessions ever.

The dresses? Stunning. The tuxes? Sharp. The energy? Unmatched.

Clear Lake High School students and their families showed up ready for the moment—and honestly, it felt like a movie.

We shot on the gorgeous grounds of the Butler Longhorn Museum, where proud parents and grandparents soaked in every second before the limos whisked their kids off to the night of their lives.

It wasn’t just a photo shoot. It was a moment of transition—one chapter ending, another just beginning.

This is what I love about portrait photography: capturing joy, connection, and those blink-and-it’s-gone milestones.

Because memories like this?
They deserve to be more than an iPhone snap.
