Sometimes I take a photograph knowing exactly what I want it to become, even if I don’t quite know how to get it there yet.
A couple of years ago, I went to a shootout hosted by Kelly and Kalina Schneider. The second I saw this beautiful space, the books, those chandeliers, all of it, I saw magic in a library.
I took this photo with that idea somewhere in the back of my mind, but when I got home, I just couldn’t make the image I was imagining actually work. So it sat there.
Today I was sorting through some older sessions and found it again.
And obviously I had to try!
A few years and a whole lot more experience later, I could finally make the world I had pictured when I took it.
I love how this one turned out. The floating pages, the moths, the dress, the old library slowly being swallowed by something magical… it feels like this photograph finally became what I always thought it could be.
