-WISHES ON THE WATER-
Last night was such a beautiful evening at the Lakes Region Lantern Festival on Lake Winnipesaukee in Center Harbor, New Hampshire. We watched the event from a boat, which made keeping the camera steady a bit of a challenge, but I still had an absolute blast capturing the evening. Especially as the lanterns began glowing against the sunset.
We also had no idea the Mount Washington Boat would be there, so seeing it when we arrived was such a special surprise and made the evening even more memorable. A huge thank you to my friend Michelle Palys, who was the captain of the boat, for her spontaneity and for making this unforgettable evening possible. And somehow, we managed to enjoy the entire event without missing even a little bit of that incredible sunset. Hope you enjoy!
I wish you all a wonderful week!!!

-INFINITE-
This photograph was captured on this day three years ago, and it’s still one of my favorite photographs I’ve ever taken on Lake Winnipesaukee.
The morning started with incredibly dense fog, but as I made my way west along the lake, the fog began to lift just enough to reveal some subtle, beautiful pastel colors in the sky. By the time I reached Gilford, the conditions had opened up considerably, and I made my first stop at Ames Farm Inn.
I absolutely love those soft, pastel colors that sometimes appear at sunrise, and this morning was a perfect example. In the distance, the sun slowly began to rise over Rattlesnake Island, creating a peaceful and almost dreamlike scene across the lake.
I took several photographs from this location that morning, but this one immediately stood out to me. Three years later, it remains one of my favorite images I’ve ever captured on Lake Winnipesaukee!
I wish you all a wonderful weekend!!!

-RED-Y OR NOT, HERE IT COMES-
I had every intention of heading somewhere else to photograph the sunrise this morning, but as soon as I jumped in my truck, I realized I had left my camera bag and tripod at the gallery. So, I had to drive there first to grab my gear, and by the time I had everything, I knew I didn’t have many options. The colors were already starting to change, and I didn’t want to miss the show! So, I headed to the closest spot I could think of which was Meredith Bay.
I captured a very similar composition nearly a month ago, with Indian Island as the backdrop. For that shot, I actually waded out into the water to get closer to the little lily pads. This morning, though, I simply didn’t have the time, so I stayed on land and worked with what I had. And WOW that was definitely one of the quickest colorful sunrises I’ve witnessed! Those deep reds appeared for just a brief moment.
I wish you all a wonderful weekend!!!

-CENTER OF ATTENTION-
I approached Leavitt Beach in Meredith, New Hampshire, with uncertain expectations, not quite sure what the sunrise had in store. There was very little cloud cover directly overhead, but more clouds were visible toward the east. I wasn’t sure if I’d be able to capture them without reaching for a longer lens, so I initially headed to a familiar location to capture whatever color appeared before it faded.
Then I noticed a sailboat off to my right that I had never seen there before, and I decided to test my luck. Facing south, I patiently waited for the sun to break the horizon. As it finally did, the sky transformed into beautiful shades of blue and pink. When the clouds rolled in, they added another layer of magic, creating stunning reflections across the calm surface of Lake Winnipesaukee.
It’s always fun to look back at images like this and remember how the scene unfolded. This photograph was captured almost exactly one year ago, on September 3, 2025. Hope you enjoy!
I wish you all a wonderful day!!!

-SALLY’S GUT-
Because it’s so gloomy out this morning, I figured I’d share a little sunshine with you from a photo I took during Sunday morning’s excursion on Lake Winnipesaukee! We spent nearly two hours out on the lake, starting at Spindle Point before sunrise and then quickly making our way over to a spot known as Sally’s Gut just as the sun began to rise through the trees. Thankfully, the water was incredibly calm and there wasn’t another boat in sight, which gave me those beautiful, mirror like reflections I’m always looking for. You can see the trees along the mainland on the left side of the photo, while the trees on Stonedam Island (The 8th Largest Island on Lake Winnipesaukee) fill the right side.
This is the northernmost entrance to Sally’s Gut, facing east, and I couldn’t have asked for better conditions to capture it. And then there’s the mystery of the name! I did a little digging into the history of Sally’s Gut and found several different stories about how it got its name. None of them seem to be definitively documented, so they appear to be more local folklore than actual history.
I wish you all a wonderful day!!!

-SYMMETRY AT SUNRISE-
Here’s another photo I captured during yesterday’s incredible sunrise over Lake Winnisquam in Tilton, New Hampshire! After photographing the dock and Adirondack chairs on the right side of this boathouse, I decided to try a completely different perspective and capture the scene from the inside. I placed my tripod right in the water, positioning my camera just about two inches above the surface to get an extremely low angle and capture as much of that brilliant morning sky as possible. I absolutely love the symmetry of this composition, especially with the boathouse framing the scene and those Adirondack chairs still visible on the right side.
I wish you all a wonderful day!!!

-WHISPERS OF THE STORM-
WOWZA!!! This morning’s sunrise over Lake Winnisquam in Tilton, New Hampshire, was absolutely incredible! There’s always a good chance of seeing some vibrant colors just before a storm rolls in, and this morning certainly did not disappoint. I headed back to a familiar spot at The Lake Estate on Winnisquam where I’ve photographed before, but this time there was a new addition that completely changed the scene. Two Adirondack chairs had been placed on the dock beside the boathouse! Those two chairs made all the difference, adding the perfect foreground and giving the image a much more inviting feel.
With the calm water, colorful sky, and storm clouds building in the distance, it truly felt like the calm before the storm. And what a sunrise it was!
I wish you all a wonderful day!!!

-DRIFTING INTO DAWN-
Yesterday morning, my good friend Michelle took me out for a boat ride on Lake Winnipesaukee to capture the sunrise. We departed from the Glendale Yacht Club in Gilford and made our way over to Spindle Point in Meredith, New Hampshire. We drifted around for a little while, waiting patiently for the colors in the clouds to make an appearance. Thankfully, they didn’t disappoint! As soon as the sky started lighting up, we were both snapping away. To be honest, I haven’t even had a chance to go through all of the photos from the morning yet, but this was the first one that really caught my eye, so I figured I’d share it.
After photographing at Spindle Point, we continued on to Sally’s Gut, where we watched the sun make its first appearance over the lake. I have a few photos from there that I’ll be sharing at a later date.
Not a bad way to start the morning!
I wish you all a wonderful week!!!

-GLOW WITH THE FLOW-
I spent this morning boating around Lake Winnipesaukee, heading out about an hour before sunrise and staying out for another hour afterward. I probably won’t get a chance to see what I captured until later, so in the meantime, I’ll share a photo from yesterday morning’s sunrise boat ride on Lake Winnisquam.
We headed to the northernmost part of the lake, where the water was completely calm and there are very few houses along the shoreline. The lake fog stuck around for the entire ride, and once the sun finally hit it, it created this beautiful, soft glow across the water.
We also came across three otters along the way! Unfortunately, they were moving way too fast and were just a little too far away for me to get any decent photos of them. Of course, they waited until I had the camera ready and then immediately decided to put their swimming skills to good use.
I wish you all a wonderful day!!!

-RIPPLES OF SMOKE-
It seems like I’ve been playing catch up with my photos lately, because somehow I keep ending up a day behind on my posts. This one is no exception!
This morning, I was out on a boat ride on Lake Winnisquam before sunrise, so I’ll have to share those photos with you tomorrow. But for today, we’re going back to yesterday morning, just before sunrise at Leavitt Beach in Meredith, New Hampshire.
As I was walking along the shoreline, I noticed how defined the rippled sand was in the shallow water. I decided to walk out a little farther, lower my camera to within a few inches of the water, and see what I could come up with. Getting the camera that low really brought the texture of the sand into the foreground and made the reflections on the calm waters of Lake Winnipesaukee stand out.
I especially love how some of the cloud reflections almost look like smoke drifting across the water. And just to top it all off, I managed to catch a little mini sunburst peeking through the clouds. Not a bad way to start the morning, even if I’m a day late sharing it!
I wish you all a wonderful weekend!!!
