Brian Divelbiss Photography Unique images of people, places and things from around the globe. I grew up in a small town in the Heartland aspiring to be a physician.

Now, nearly 20 years into my practice as a hand surgeon, I realize that somewhere along the way I lost my connection to the joy of creating. Over the past five years, I have rediscovered that creative spark that resides in all of us and have married that to my passion for travel. I am so grateful for my wonderful wife, Karen, and children, Andie and Ben, as they have made the best companions for m

y journey. Travel is the only thing you buy that makes you richer. It rekindles a sense of wonder in the world and an understanding of our deep connections to one another. I am committed to experiencing the personal transformation that happens when finding myself in new places. Through my images and stories I hope to embody the words of Marcel Proust, “The real voyage of discovery consists not in seeing new landscapes but in having new eyes.”

Most people never see this side of Nafplio.

Long before the cafés fill and the harbor comes alive, the town whispers instead of speaks.

Streetlights still glow. Fishing boats rest quietly at their moorings. The first colors of dawn stretch across the sky while Palamidi Fortress keeps its centuries-old watch over the sleeping city.

I’ve learned that sunrise has a different personality than sunset. Sunrise doesn’t ask for applause—it simply arrives, quietly offering a fresh beginning to anyone willing to be there.

Moments like this remind me that some of the world’s greatest beauty isn’t hidden. It’s simply early.

Most people walk past places like this without realizing what the landscape is quietly saying.

Morning mist wrapped itself around the Pantanassa Monastery in Mystras as if the mountain wanted to keep one last secret. For a few moments, history, architecture, and nature seemed to breathe together.

It’s easy to admire the ancient stone and Byzantine domes. It’s harder—and far more rewarding—to pause long enough to feel the stillness they’ve witnessed for nearly six centuries.

This is one of the reasons I travel with a camera: not simply to document remarkable places, but to preserve the fleeting moments when light, weather, and history become something greater than the sum of their parts.

Sometimes the most meaningful journeys aren’t measured in miles, but in moments of quiet wonder.
