This week I achieved a milestone that reflects that commitment: earning the Craftsman Photographer in Fine Art – Landscape designation. While awards are never the goal, this recognition affirms the level of craftsmanship and artistic intention I strive to bring to every piece I create.

Collectors who have acquired my work through my website and Etsy shop have long been the driving force behind my creative direction. Their trust in my vision — and the presence of my prints in homes, offices, and curated interiors — continues to shape the way I approach each new landscape.

"Tumacácori: The Mission Beyond the Façade"
This is the San Jose de Tumacacori Mission located near Tubac Arizona. It was the first mission established by Francisco Kino, constructed began in 1757, completed around 1824. It served as a sanctuary for first the Jesuit priests, then the Franciscans. The priests brought religion and services to the O'odham and other local tribes. Guarded by Spanish soldiers in the presidio in Tubac two miles north of the mission, the mission was regularly attacked by raiding Apaches. In 1848, because of the Spanish troops leaving after the US-Mexican war, and the continued pressure of the Apache raids the mission was abandoned and it remains today as it was then.

"Monsoon Gloom" Horseshoe/Cienega Lake in the White Mountains of Arizona, as a typical monsoon storm develops. Taken in the late afternoon, the black and white edit shows the drama a monsoon storm can create as it continues to develop. Typical of the White Mountains during what we are experiencing is a robust monsoon season throughout Arizona.

The alter at San Xavier del Bac mission in Tucson, AZ. Hard to comprehend the amount of craftsmanship that went into this handcrafted alter. This is the main alter with two side alters forming the Christian cross of this baroque architecture mission, San Xavier del Bac. The 18th‑century Spanish Colonial landmark is known as the “White Dove of the Desert.” Crafted by artisans between 1783 and 1797, the mission’s interior is filled with hand‑carved figures, gilded ornamentation, and devotional artwork created by generations of craftsmen. This image captures the depth, texture, and sacred atmosphere of one of the most significant historic interiors in the Southwest.

"San Xavier Del Bac in Morning Light" Mission San Xavier del Bac stands as one of the oldest intact European structures in Arizona, founded in 1692 by Jesuit missionary Father Eusebio Francisco Kino. The church you see today was built between 1783 and 1797 by Franciscan craftsmen, blending Old World Spanish Baroque artistry with the desert culture of the Tohono O’odham Nation, on whose land the mission still resides.

Its twin white towers — one completed, one intentionally left unfinished — have become a symbol of the mission’s long, layered history. The ornate carved façade, often called the “White Dove of the Desert,” was created by artisans who worked entirely by hand, using local materials and techniques passed down through generations. Inside, the mission holds original statuary, frescoes, and woodwork that survived centuries of conflict, weather, and political change.

Today, San Xavier remains an active parish and a cultural anchor for the Tohono O’odham community. Restoration teams continue to preserve its artwork using traditional methods, ensuring the mission’s unique blend of Spanish, Indigenous, and desert heritage endures for future generations.

What drew me to this monochrome interpretation was the way the bright white stucco holds its luminosity without losing texture. The mission’s architecture is all about contrast — light against shadow, smooth plaster against ornate stonework — and black and white lets those contrasts speak for themselves. and the façade’s intricate craftsmanship becomes the visual anchor of the composition.

This version isn’t just a photograph of a historic building; it’s a study in light, form, and the enduring character of the “White Dove of the Desert.”

Proud to receive another recognition award from the UCP International Photography Community for my "Echoes in the Granite" landscape composition. Was taken just south of Ouray, Colorado along the Million Dollar Highway. Hopefully the current fire situation will leave this as pristine as I saw it.

“Canyon Stormy Point”
I recently received some encouraging feedback from fellow photographers on this piece from my portfolio, so I decided it was time to share it here — and on my Etsy site — for the first time.
The original image is in color and already dramatic, but I wanted to explore how it would translate in black and white. The monochrome treatment brings out the canyon’s depth, the storm’s intensity, and the textures that often get overshadowed by color.
For those curious about the artistic choices: I selected this composition because the foreground rock detail naturally leads the eye into the canyon and toward the approaching monsoon storm. That storm adds mood, scale, and character to a landscape that’s already magnificent on its own.
