One of the best things about this job is witnessing humans human-ing. To be photographed is to open yourself to being vulnerable. I remind myself of this every single time a client chooses to book with me and it makes me immensely grateful. In-home sessions hold a special space in my heart because I love capturing people living as in, in this moment in time. So that when you look back at the photos, you not only remember the feeling, but the room, the house, the mess, the ordinary chaos.

It was truly an honor to photograph this in home newborn session after baby came home from the nicu. How resilient and strong children are. How resilient and strong her parents are. I’m always in awe of humanity.

Happy Mother’s Day to all the moms, grandmas, mother figures, moms-to-be, dads who fill mom roles, working moms, stay-at-home mamas, and maternal figures out there. The ones who create a tiny universe for their babes in the womb for 40 weeks, the ones who bring them into this world, the ones who deal with smushed faces, the ones who provide nourishment, tickles, laughs, smiles, cuddles, and all of the above even before they know they need it. The unsung heroes, the person behind the scenes making sure everything runs smoothly, one day is not enough to celebrate you. Here’s to hoping you don’t to make ANY decisions today, not even the tiny ones.
