I returned from NY with a busy schedule in Miami, so I am sitting now to talk about NFTNYC.
The main highlight of the Conference-from my POV- is the special attention to Identity, Provenance, Authenticity and Certifiable Credentials that can be embedded into images, texts, video, animations etc, basically any type of digital files, thanks to new digital tools.
My presentation dealt originally with tools to re-define the way fine art nudes can be formally separated from Erotica and P**n. At this moment, everything is tagged NSFW, Not Suitable for Work, and thousands of fine art images are being wrongly tagged as p**n.
To my happy surprise, I found many are seeing the relevance of protecting identity and authenticity, and I think it is because of the invasive nature of AI and attitude of the company owners expecting to have free access to just everything, including IP, the entire culture of humanity, with the permission from the Administration, pretending to invoke Fair Use as the excuse to grab just everything, and turn the information into “proprietary content”.
I expressed my compliments to Adobe, Google, Microsoft and many others for joining the Calition for Provenance and Authenticity, C2PA.org and now, the image editing programs like Adobe Photoshop, Lightroom and PhasenOne have added thr new CONTENT CREDENTIALS as a set of encrypted metadata that is non editable and can be uploaded to a public library in the cloud, so each and every platform in the WEB3 ecosystem can check the credentials ( verified ID , X accounts, instagram accounts etc,) from the creators, to provide ample proof of provenance and authenticity.
In addition, our dear Cameron Bale, Co-Founder of NFTNYC conference presented their own cool project, the KREDENTIALS, (check Fineartkrypto.kred) another initiative to bring to light formal identification of creators and their verifiable online presence.
The list goes on: other presenters talked about the idea of Identity Tokens, as a way to avoid AI to just bypass our IPs and privacy rights. Various Discussion Panels kept talking about IP rights and identity. To me, this was the most critical subject under discussion!
In short, it is time to create a consensus and a solid pressure to have all actors involved into engaging and accepting some global or universal set of verifiable credentials to be able to certify provenance and authenticity. This will Amos automatically remove several bad actors!
This new digital tools, combined with the previous tools, like Copyright Registration of our dearest work may bring a totally new scenario of transparency, not only to Fine Art Nudes, but to the general image, music and writing markets.
I intend to pursue the meetings with Adobe as the proper starting point to add more panels to the existing Content Credentials, to guarantee the proper identification and classification of images.
