I am actually posting this photo for my wife Vicky, she took the photo. The photo was taken 5-23-26 around 8 o'clock in the evening. Great gray owls are very special to photograph, they are mostly seen at sunrise and dusk in poor light. When the opportunity presents itself to get these amazing creatures in decent light one has to be ready!

We will soon be photographing all the wildlife in the Tetons and Yellowstone. These photos are from past spring trips although we hope to see these same bears in the first photo. The recent activity at the Calusa Rookery keeps getting better and better! The tricolored herons have built a nest and we even had a pair of wood storks make an appearance! There are ten great egret nests and almost all with eggs, the most we have had in several years. The anhingas and cattle egrets are just starting to build nests! The final Calusa Hearing will be Thursday April 23rd downtown at the Stephen P Clark Center at 9:30 and wear your green save calusa shirt! We need to show the commission our community will continue to advocate to protect our community and quality of life! Final Calusa Hearing!! ! savecalusa.org

The activity at the Calusa Rookery has increased the past several days. We have seven great egret nests, most with eggs and the tricolored herons have started nest building. There are dozens of anhingas and they will start nest building any day. This is a unique habitat considering it is located in a residential community. This rookery is still not completely safe with the proposed 500 plus home development. For info please go to .org
