I don’t remember what swimsuit I wore when I was 10.

I don’t remember what toys I played with or what shoes I had.

But I do remember summer.

I remember staying outside until the streetlights came on.
Making friends with the neighborhood kids.
Riding bikes.
Running barefoot.
Pool days that somehow lasted forever.

Watching these girls together took me right back.

No phones.
No schedules.
No pressure.

Just laughter, sunshine, and the kind of memories that become part of who we are.

This is exactly why I created The Summer We Grew Up sessions.

Because one day these little moments become the stories they tell their own children.

Do you remember those summers?

The ones where you left the house after breakfast and only came home when the streetlights came on.

The summers filled with bike rides, scraped knees, swimming pools, best friends, and memories that somehow stayed with us forever.

I want our children to have that too.

So this summer, I’m creating something a little different. Something less posed, less perfect, and a whole lot more real.

Part 2 ✨

Not every graduate dreams of palm trees and city skylines.

Some dream of fresh ice, early mornings at the rink, sore muscles, countless hours of practice, and the feeling of finally landing the move they’ve been working toward.

That’s what I love most about senior sessions.

The goal isn’t to create photos that look like everyone else’s. The goal is to create photos that feel like YOU.

For her, that meant stepping onto the ice in her cap and gown and celebrating not only her graduation, but the sport that helped shape the person she has become.

Years from now, these won’t just be graduation photos.

They’ll be a reminder of the dedication, discipline, and passion that carried her to this moment.

And that is exactly why personalized sessions will always be my favorite. 💙⛸️🎓

Some clients come to me with no idea what they want, and others show up with a complete vision already planned out.

She was definitely the second one.😊

From the moment we started talking about her graduation session, she knew exactly where she wanted to go and the vibe she was hoping to create. My job? Bring that vision to life.

I am absolutely obsessed with how these images turned out. 🌿✨

But this was only half of the session…

Let’s just say our second location was not your typical graduation photo spot. Stay tuned for Part 2. 👀

And a little tip for future graduates: If you’re thinking about graduation photos, start planning early! The best time to book is usually 2-3 months before graduation so we have plenty of time to create something that feels uniquely you.

Our weekends are usually spent at some park where I can sit under a tree with my book while the boys go mountain biking. This past weekend, we changed things up a bit. Since I recently purchased some knee and elbow pads for my rollerblades, I decided to put on my big-girl panties and give it one more shot.

Did you know I’m not a fan of mountain biking? Not because it isn’t fun—it really is—but because I’ve busted my a** one too many times, and I’m a little too old to start breaking bones.

Now listen, I may not love the sport, but being out there capturing these images and seeing the pure joy on their faces made it worth the effort. And on the plus side… I didn’t fall this time!!!! 😂

Fair warning: I’m posting a ton of these images because while they were doing what they love, I got to do what I love. 📸🚵‍♂️

“Do something that once brought you joy again.”

Not because you need to be good at it.
Not because it needs to turn into a goal.
Not because it has to make sense to anyone else.

Just because somewhere along the way, life got busy… and you stopped doing little things that made you feel like you.

For me, it’s been reading again. (20 so far this year 😊)
Singing again.
Rollerblading again.
Moving my body in ways that feel fun instead of forced.

And honestly? It’s been healing in the quietest way.

So here’s your reminder:
Pick something back up.
Even if you’re rusty.
Even if it feels silly.
Even if it’s been years.

Joy counts too.

Behind the scenes of today’s setup 🎈
No camera… just balloons and a whole lot of tying.

I was asked to create these columns for a school spelling bee (this is actually the second year they’ve called me!) and I love how colorful and fun they turned out.

I don’t promote this much, but I do offer simple balloon setups for schools and small events when I have availability.
