Being an unapologetic ex-New Yorker, , who grew up in the city of the 1940s and 50s, I couldn't resist viewing this amazing motion picture clip over and over again. New York lovingly documented in 1911! Just thinking about my mom, 6 years old when this photography was made. What had she witnessed as she grew up in a world that was rapidly transforming itself before her eyes. She's gone now, and today I can only wish to have been able to share this with her. What memories her viewing these images would have brought back! But we can enjoy it now:

My dear friend, photographer Pepe Paban ([email protected]) alerted me to this amazing quote, the words of Alexander Hamilton in August, 1792. He warns his fellow Americans of the risk of an oligarch gaining the seat of our country's power. His words echo down the pages of history to us and send a warning. Be vigilant. A preserved example from our city's historic past: the venerable Ingraham Building, a downtown Miami landmark. Its elegant period lobby restored to once-revered glory. Arched two-story windows, painted ceiling, lustrous marble floor, metal-shielded elevator doors, the old mail-drop; all elements of the 1920s opulence it was meant to reflect.

A few memorable images of a very special shoot for Architectural Digest: Sophia Loren in her Miami apartment. Loretta Forer styled the shoot, bringing her own props to create the scene of Sophia making pasta in her kitchen. Even got a "selfie" together with Sophia in that kitchen.

My archives sometimes reveal hidden and oft forgotten treasures. These are photos of the Coconut Grove home of the late architect Henry Alexander and his wife, Karen. Henry commissioned me to photograph this wonderful project 30 years ago and I remember the experience as if it were yesterday. His visionary design stands the test of time.
