Next, we headed from Trier, Germany to Strasbourg, France. This leg of the trip involved changing trains in Luxembourg. I was really excited about visiting Luxembourg, even for the short layover. My wife speaks German natively, but I studied French for 6 years in school. Other than a previous trip to Montreal (where everyone spoke English), this was my first real chance to speak French with native francophones....

n the early morning hours, just before the Sun had risen, Luxembourg looked amazing and romantic. The surrounding buildings conveyed a sense of modernism tied into a belle epoque aesthetic.

Speicher is a small town near Trier, Germany. We stayed at a small hotel called Unter den Kastanien. The hotel has 3 floors and on the first floor is a bar and restaurant. The proprietor was friendly and helpful. Later that night, we ate dinner in the restaurant. It was pizza night, so of course, we ordered pizza....
