While setting up their picnic is when she least expect it to happen 🫶🏼💍

C&C were just heading out for a picnic date in the quiet surroundings of Hickory Run State Park in White Haven PA. You could hear the birds tweeting and the echo of their voices while laughing and setting up their basket with charcuterie and wine.

Meanwhile I am standing about 100 yds away behind a bush and my husband is giving me cues on what they are doing, since he had a better view. I start knee walking like I am in an Apex Legends game and take a peek between the branches of tress to be prepared when he is about to get on his knee and propose. As soon as I see that he is getting up from his siting position, I started taking photos and the rest you can see it through these photos.

Afterwards we had a fabulous and fun time at their engagement photoshoot through the areas of the park. We ended up going in the depths of the park to be close to the rocks and water. The feeling of witnessing an engagement proposal never gets old as a portrait and wedding photographer. I am always excited to document new stories and meet new couples in the Pennsylvania and any other place in the world.

One of the biggest photography myths is that sunny weather always makes the best portraits. Even though I could stare at sunsets every day, I also love overcast evenings. Soft clouds create even light, richer colors, and beautiful skin tones while allowing the mood of the location to shine through. Some of my favorite engagement and elopement galleries have been photographed under cloudy skies.

One of my favorite parts of a wedding day happens when everyone else steps back. Having a moment to do a first look with your bridesmaids and moms, gives an extra touch of emotions to your day. The gasp they do when they see the bride, it’s timeless. Your wedding dress, bridal makeup and your hairstyle, truly is just a compliment to what they genuinely see: YOU. I love reliving these moments with behind-the-scenes footage from wedding days. I love taking care of my brides and their close ones even more.

There are sunsets that are beautiful… and then there are sunsets that become part of someone’s story. 🌇 One of my favorite moments from this engagement session happened after the sun had already dipped below the horizon. That’s when the skyline softened, the bridges lit up, we felt the breeze of the wind and these two simply enjoyed being together. Sometimes the most beautiful light isn’t golden, it’s the quiet moments that come after. Downtown Harrisburg never disappoints. 👌🏼
