I promised Part Two 😎
Emily and Mercades are back on your feed. This time, we’re in their work room! Mercades and Emily’s love story begins in art school so it seemed only natural to have part of their session here. Though these two have full-time creative careers, they also take commissions 😉 It was so exciting to see the passion and precision that goes into their art and how they work together and support each others projects. It’s an honor to get to see the behind-the-scenes.

I couldn’t think of a better day to post this part of their session because it’s June 1st. You know what that means! It’s officially 🌈PRIDE MONTH🌈 ❗️The LGBTQ community is often strongly intertwined with the art community, as art is a powerful form of self-expression, celebration, protest, and representation. Art strengthens and uplifts our community and I am so thankful for that.

You may remember earlier this year when I posted about taking a documentary photography course to strengthen my skill set and offer different types of sessions. Well, I asked Mercades and Emily if they’d be willing to let me into their home and experience a “day in the life”. These two did not disappoint!
Their session began with scrabble, a game they often play together, puppy snuggles (because Moe is the cutest), and practicing their first dance for their wedding next year. It was so fun to capture some candid moments and just hang out with this little family.
