Our sweet son Jacob was recently diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes. This diagnosis has been life changing for our entire family. Managing blood sugar around the clock, worrying about dangerous highs and lows, and learning a whole new way of life is a challenge no child should face alone.
One thing that could truly transform Jacob’s daily life and give our family peace of mind is a Diabetic Alert Dog. These specially trained dogs can sense changes in blood sugar, often before monitors or symptoms alert us. They can warn of dangerous lows and highs while Jacob is sleeping, playing, or unable to recognize symptoms himself. They become a constant companion, protector, and life-saving support system.
The cost of a trained Diabetic Alert Dog ranges from $15,000 to $25,000 and the matching and training process typically takes one to two years. Because this process is long and expensive, we are raising funds now to start Jacob’s journey toward a safer, more independent future.
To help, we are offering two ways to participate in the fundraiser.
First, our raffle. We are excited to share one of our raffle baskets, perfect for anyone who loves memories and photography. This Photography Gift Basket includes a Platinum Photography Session voucher from Britney Toy Photography valued at $525, a digital picture frame, and a $50 print credit. The Platinum Package includes a full session with all final edited images, so you will receive every photo, not just a few favorites.
Raffle tickets are $5 each or five for $20. To enter, send payment via Venmo to -toy with the 💙 and 🧺 emojis in the comment. Once your payment is received, I will send a photo of your raffle ticket or tickets. Every ticket purchased brings Jacob one step closer to his life-changing Diabetic Alert Dog.
Second, our mini photo sessions. I am hosting ten-minute fundraiser sessions where you can donate what you are able and receive five edited images chosen by me. Sessions will take place in Smyrna, Delaware on April 18 and May 17. To sign up, send your donation via Venmo to -toy with the 💙 and 📸 emoji and the date you would like to reserve in the comment.
