Summer is one of the most underrated times to book a family session. Everyone thinks of fall first, and I understand why. The colors are beautiful and the sweater weather is cozy. But summer has things fall simply cannot offer.
It has long evenings. The sun does not set until nine o'clock in July, which means an evening session at seven gives us that slow, warm, golden light that makes everything look like a painting. It has bare feet in the grass. It has kids who are full of energy and actually want to be outside. It has the relaxed, unhurried feeling of a season without school schedules or sports practices pulling everyone in different directions.
And if your family includes little ones, there is something about a summer evening session outdoors that brings out the best in everyone. Nobody is bundled up. Nobody is squinting into cold wind. They are just running around being themselves while I follow along and document what that actually looks like.
Fall spots fill first. If you want to get ahead of the rush and book your family session for late summer or early fall, now is the time.
