From One Mother to Another đ¤
Everyone has seen the recent conversations and news surrounding AI-generated images of children, and it has brought up an important conversation about protecting your photos and your children.
Your privacy. Your memories. Your choice.
Photographing your family is something I never take lightly. As a mom myself, I know just how precious these moments areâand how important it is to feel comfortable with who gets to share them.
There is often confusion about photography, copyright, model calls, and social media, so I want to be transparent about how I handle your images and your family's privacy.
In many situations, photographers own the copyright to the images they create. However, that does NOT automatically mean they have unlimited permission to use a person's likeness for every purpose. How images may be used publicly can depend on the contract, model release, and the specific circumstances involved.
If a photographer plans to use your images for advertising, marketing, portfolio examples, publications, or other promotional purposes, the permissions surrounding that use should be clearly addressed in writing. If minor children are involved, parental or legal guardian release/contract should also be clearly addressed.
And just because you participate in a model call or receive a discounted session does not mean you should assume every question about image usage has been answered you still need a signed contract. âď¸Read what you are signing.
Make sure you understand whether you are giving permission for your photosâor your child's photosâto be shared publicly, used for marketing, submitted to publications, or used in other ways.
Clear communication and written agreements protect everyone involved.
But for me, this goes beyond contracts.
I can showcase your memories without showcasing your child's identity.
Your privacy will always matter more to me than a social media post.
And just to be VERY clear: I am not telling you what to do with photos of your own children.
If you want to post your them post them you want to post the entire album post it! Tag me Iâll love them!
Just know as a photographer I stand behind what my clients want! No feelings hurt what so ever. As a mother I understand protecting our children is important and I stand behind your choices!
