Twyla’s mom told me one thing: she climbs everything. Always has to be the highest point in the room.

So I didn’t fight it. I posed her on the arm of the chair — higher than the rest, exactly where she’d choose to be.

That’s the whole job. I just paint them as themselves.

Friesians are one of those breeds that stop you cold.

That mane. That movement. That presence.

Brianna’s owner told me watching her move takes her breath away every single time — so that’s exactly what I painted. Mid-gallop. Sun on her back. Like the whole world stopped for her.

Kaya is a three-year-old German Shepherd born in Germany — and according to her person, to know her is to love her.

She loves snow. Rolling in it, running in it, catching snowballs like it’s her full time job.
