Some blessings arrive like the rarest pearl—precious, radiant, and worth every moment of the wait.

After a string of boys through Freshly Budded, this beautiful little girl made her grand entrance, and today I had the honor of photographing her at just 5 days old.

Her sweet family made the 2.5-hour drive from Chesapeake to my studio, and I couldn’t be more grateful. Wrapped in soft tulle with delicate florals, she rested in those dreamy, womb-like newborn poses that preserve the fleeting beauty of the very first days of life before these tiny flower buds begin to bloom.

📍 Studio sessions available, or I’ll travel to you anywhere from Charlottesville to Chesapeake and beyond depending on availability. Travel is calculated by commute time—approximately $100 for one hour, $250 for 2.5 hours, and so on.

{my favorite mauve} My Favorite Mauve 💗

There is something timeless about mauve. Soft, elegant, and feminine without being overly bright, it has a way of feeling both classic and modern at the same time. For newborn portraiture, it’s one of my favorite colors because it wraps babies in warmth while keeping the focus on their delicate features.

The dusty mauve wrap paired with the blush pink bed creates the sweetest contrast—just enough depth to make every tiny detail stand out, from her delicate bow to those perfect sleepy eyelashes. The result is dreamy, peaceful, and effortlessly beautiful.

One of my favorite flowers in a mauve tone is the mauve rose, but you’ll also find gorgeous mauve shades in sweet peas, lisianthus, stock flowers, dahlias, hydrangeas, and orchids. They all carry that same soft, romantic feeling that makes mauve such a beloved color in newborn photography.
