This page is to document and show the changes to CNC Rowe Woods over the last 20+ years. Documenting the changes caused by nature and the commercialization of the once pristine nature preserve that was once Rowe Woods. . This page purpose is to show the changes both by Emerald Ash Borer and by the commercialization by the leadership of The Cincinnati Nature Center. They have turned a once true nat

ure preserve learning center, to a Disneyesque type nature place. All you have to do is read the original mission statement. It has changed and not in a good way. That is what many of the old members have expressed. Some do like the changes. Time marches on, I will miss the old Rowe Woods. This site is to see the new and recall the old view of Rowe Woods.

On our morning hike, Bean and I met a local neighbor that was comfortable enough to let me make a couple of pictures of him. The picture was made near Cedar crossing just across Doc's bridge. On morning walks I have seen this buck, yet he was always quick to run away. Now they are getting used to seeing me and Bean on the hikes, and they know we are harmless and stay on the trails. Today was a good morning.

A bunch of Mom's black eyed Susan flowers on the trail in Rowe Woods? Back in 2002 I brought some of these flowers from my Mom's garden and planted them in my front yard that is not far from this spot on the trail. I just started to notice them in the last couple of years. Perhaps the Finch brought some seeds from my yard too their nests in CNC.

In the evening and night of June 16th the area of Rowe Woods got a lot of rain in a short period of time. There was a lot of damage to some trails where gravel washed out whole areas. The area of the trail above the Avey Run overlook held up well after just being reworked. You can hear how loud the flow of the waterfall sounded early the next morning. On the plus side no trees fell across the trail in this area.
