BEFORE AND AFTER with a long post!
Just recently I was looking back through my older work, and I noticed such a huge difference. It wasn't simply that I was growing with time. It was that I took the time to learn, practice, and really understand the different aspects of photography.
Everyone loves that bright and airy look, but sometimes chasing bright light can actually work against you. Harsh light and blown highlights can cause white balance struggles and wash out skin tones. Hello, "ghost face." haha. That’s the first photo my BEFORE. It's almost embarrassing to post!
The AFTER came from learning how to choose locations that still give beautiful light without overwhelming the image. Soft, forward-facing light just past the trees creates more depth, richer color, and more natural skin tones.
Growth isn’t always about buying new gear. Sometimes it’s simply learning to see light differently. (although I do love a good gear upgrade!)
The second part of this growth has been getting to grow alongside all of you. I’ve been photographing this family for, I believe, 7 years now, and that part never gets old.
Watching families grow while also finding myself and growing as a photographer has been such a gift. I’m beyond grateful for every family that has stayed with me through the years, trusted me, and allowed me to tell your stories.
Thank you all so much for being part of this journey with me. 🤍
