Happy Independence Day to the US of A
Over the last decade, it feels like we've lost some of what has always made America so special. Too much anger has replaced understanding, and too much hatred has taken the place of respect. We need to remember why we are here as a country and what we were founded on...not ONE belief system but everyone's...not ONE way to love and worship, but everyone's.
My hope is that we can begin to turn the tide—that the anger, hostility, and behaviors flowing from our nation's capital no longer set the tone for the rest of the country. Instead, may we choose civility over contempt, conversation over conflict, and a renewed commitment to the values of freedom, respect, and unity that inspired America's founding.
We don't have to agree on everything to remember that we're all Americans. I still believe our best days are ahead if we're willing to find our way back to one another.
