9.7.2026 Hula Hoop Sha-boop

OK this is a long story. Recently I saw something about this hula hoop tree near Cascade. It is the 2020 brainchild of Peggy Huhn and her family who’d seen one in Iowa. It has taken on deeper significance since Peggy’s cancer diagnosis and the loss of her right leg. When people asked ‘what they could do’ for her she asked people to visit the tree and toss a hoop in her honor.

As we’d be close today, I thought I’d check it out. As we’d drove up, another car arrived (with hoops) saying that they were meeting friends there. What are the chances out in the middle of farm fields? They are friends of Peggy. So… the second couple appeared and they asked me to take their photo. And then just as I was going to our car, Peggy appeared with a friend. Really. So I asked if I could take a group photo and took some for them as well. Karma? Good timing? Something else?

These young people were so sweet. Another ‘magic of hello’. It really is the people, that are important to my photography.

9.4.2026 Fragile. Handle with Care

No one should be surprised that I’m a bit obsessed with the demolition/failure of the Walkers Point warehouse. What really interests me is how the demolition reveals what’s inside - furniture, file cabinets, merchandise… Many people have described it as abandoned or vacant. That is clearly not the case. This is a view of the third floor.

9.2.2026 Shelf cloud(s)

I saw this building as I was driving in Walkers Point - so had to quickly figure out where I could get a shot. This is from the Discovery World pier. I’ve never seen two like this.

9.1.2026 Airborne

Honestly, the second sunrise photo this week. I couldn’t resist how the lighthouse seemed to be floating in the fog and haze.
