Alex Pretti Bike Rally –
The biking community, that traditionally will rally for fallen bike enthusiasts, showed up in the well below freezing temps with a number said to have neared 5,000 riders to show it’s support for Alex who was fatally shot by Federal I.C.E. agents.
I knew of a dozen other rides in and around the metro area as I was trying to pick which to participate with. I chose the Mpls ride as I once lived a few blocks from here and wanted to revisit the “old” neighborhood as well as show my support for the local communities of the area I once lived around.
It was also said that over 200 bike rides such as this were taking place in 14 different countries, I spoke to a few people who knew friends that were riding in Germany and France.
The Minneapolis ride, led by bike shop who Alex was a frequent patron of started at the Minneapolis Institute of Art, made stops and Renee Good and Alex Pretti memorial sites, and finished the 8+ mile ride at the VA Hospital where Pretti had worked and where we enjoyed each others shared stories and refreshments donated by the local shops.
After which, many of us turned around to bike back to the starting point.
Coffee, coco, and treats were donated from Glam Doll Donuts, , Atuvava, and A Bakers Wife pastry shop.
Pretti Good ‘n Mad Block Prints provided by – give a shout, or better yet, send some funds to cover the expenses and to donate to local causes.
Donated vests for riders to wear. Again, see QR code to donate if able.
