the last 4 weeks have felt like 10 years. this is my slow season, and I am grateful that has allowed me to throw myself towards my neighbors and community. Grief, anger, loss, fear, heartbreak, resilience, and stamina. These are the words that fuel the action. It’s complicated to promote my photography on this platform when it is being used for literally life or death mutual aid outreach and I feel a sense of deja vu, remembering back in 2020 when I felt that same twist of conflict. But, I will say (and have said to many of you with whom i’ve met for client calls this month) that even in times of pain and heartbreak, we still need to gather with our community and celebrate being together. This wedding was three days after Renee Good was murdered and in times of shocking grief, it’s important to hug one another. Katie & James gave everyone that opportunity and I felt (like I have felt many times this month) glad to be able to witness.

I pushed myself this year! Most of these photos are film, and, perhaps because of COVID there was a sense of shedding the rules, open joy, and release.
