Ryan A Stadler Photography Weddings / Portraits / Architecture & Design / Artist Hi, I'm Ryan

I am a husband, father, and artist. But most of all, I am a Truth seeker.

Here's what I mean...

I want my art to persuade you of the truth I have found: the truth that mundane is a myth. The truth that there is no insignificant, indifferent moment. The truth that life is a v***r and every bit of it is full of beauty and grace. As a documentary photographer, you will find me both in the midst of your mountaintop moments and in the quiet of your daily rhythms. Real life

is unedited and rough around the edges. I want to honor your specific, unique story and create something beautiful from it. Over time, I believe this truth will hold sway and you will be left holding genuine images that take you back. I would be honored to photograph part of your story.

Hey, everyone šŸ‘‹šŸ¼ wanted to spend a moment re-introducing myself to everyone following me here. It’s been a while and I’m pretty inconsistent, but you’ve stuck with me and for that I’m incredibly grateful.

I’ve been photographing weddings and people, professionally, for 15 years now. Minneapolis has been home, but photography and my clients have taken me all over the country. It’s felt like the blink of an eye. I’m not just a wedding and portrait photographer, however. I’m just a photographer. I want to make photos everywhere I am and in a lot of different contexts. It can be difficult to share that when so much of my ā€œworkā€ is wedding related. But, I also love photographing architecture, nature, everyday scenes and the mundane, and all of it with film, which I’ve used since high school.

I have been married to the same amazing woman for the past 20 years and we have three kids…the oldest started helping me photograph weddings this year!

I have constant anxiety over how photography will fit into my life as I age and wonder how much longer I’ll be photographing weddings. My love for them hasn’t changed, but I can’t deny I’m getting older. The gray in my beard tells me so. I’ll be here as long as the clients are I suppose.

I love the outdoors. I have found a peace in hiking different locations and creating on these hikes has helped clear my head, lately. It’s amazing what time out in nature can do for our souls. The smells, sights, sounds and fresh air really are a balm. Praying, while amongst the pines and rushing water is truly a gift. I could spend all day there.

Thanks to my friend, Eric for the few captures while out making photographs the other day.

I’ve also shared a handful of my own photos from this time. Developed by myself and .foto using C41 kit, and scanned using .supply with a Nikon D850 and 105mm 2.8D Macro lens.

Thanks for following ya’ll. I’m very thankful to have this small community and your support means the world to me.

Handful of more recent paintings. So much to learn. So much to try. So much to get better at. So much to experiment with. So much of everything. I met a plein air painter today while out on a walk. He said he started painting at age 45. Now, he’s 68, retired and paints almost every day. He encouraged me to never give up, take risks, and have fun. Our 2 hour conversation was everything I needed today. Thanks, Bob.

Trees have always proven challenging to me. Often, there are these epic trees at venues and I know including them is a must, but when it comes time to make portraits or photograph them, I’m usually stumped. Lol. Here’s a set of images from Megan and Ryan’s wedding last year featuring a really epic tree at

A single photo. That’s it. But, I added some music. Hope you all are doing well out there.

It may have been less than 5 degrees, but the sun was out and Bridget and Troy were absolute troopers on their couples session back in January. Are we on our way out, though? It’s 52 degrees in February. Here comes the sun…

This was such a sweet moment. Often, these photographs are simply a fortunate mix of the perfect light and a willing subject. All I did was point my camera and snap a photo, which always reminds me, it’s not really about me. It’s just about being present and being observational. Kelly & Aaron find a spot in the light, from almost 6 years ago.
