Olive Lou 🕊️

This Christmas is extra special with the arrival of an answered prayer- Olive was born on 12/12 through the unmedicated VBAC we earnestly prayed and hoped for. We are filled with gratitude for His goodness and faithfulness, for a birth that mirrored our hopes, and for the most incredible team we could have asked for. Welcome to the world, sweet girl ❤️

Happy Thanksgiving from the Olsons 🦃

This year has held so much change. From saying goodbye to my dad to preparing to welcome another daughter, life has felt anything but steady at times — yet the Lord’s steadfastness has never wavered.

I’m grateful for a husband who meets my flaws and brokenness with grace, reflecting the faithful love of Jesus. Grateful for friends and family who speak truth and life into me. Grateful for clients-turned-friends who trust me and continue to show love and support. Grateful to work alongside incredible vendors and creatives in this industry. Grateful to be Emma’s mom — and soon, a mom of two. And above all, I’m most grateful for the new life I have because Jesus died for my sin and conquered the grave.

Olive Lou, we can’t wait to meet you and know you — hopefully in just a week or two 🕊️

Last year I made a decision to stop apologizing for my messy home. Keeping a house presentable while keeping a toddler happy (and alive) feels impossible most days. It’s such an unrealistic expectation we put on ourselves — as if a messy home means we’re failing at motherhood.

I still find myself fighting self-consciousness when people visit, but I’ve also grown more comfortable welcoming them into my space, my real life, just as it is. Nothing glamorous, but a life well-lived. And just as Christ accepted me as I was, my hope is that in practicing this, others will know and feel that they too can come as they are.

That is the reason I feel so honored whenever I’m invited into a client’s home to document them in the season they’re in — in the place they’re most comfortable and vulnerable. The half-emptied bottle, the random toy (aka spatula) on the floor, the sink full of dishes, the yogurt stain by the highchair… all signs of little lives filling the space, proof that life is being fully lived here.

Thank you, Emily and Noah, for inviting me into your space and trusting me to document yet another sweet season of life. The Keiths are so special to me 💕

Sool + Mohammed |

I first met Sool in Tokyo back in 2019 when we were both living there. We actually found each other on Instagram in the summer of 2018 and tried to schedule a shoot together. After a few reschedules, we finally made it happen in April 2019 — an early morning shoot on the streets of Omotesando. Afterwards, we went for an impromptu lunch where I introduced her to laksa! I don’t remember everything we talked about that day, but I remember how fun and easy it was to be around her and how quickly it felt like we were friends. Side note: our shoot was published in a magazine shortly after!

So when her wedding inquiry landed in my inbox, I almost couldn’t believe it. What are the odds that we’d meet in Japan right before she moved to the west coast and I moved to the Midwest… and six years later, I’d get to photograph her wedding here in Minnesota, at a beautiful new venue just 5 minutes from my home! I even dug through my old emails to make sure it was really her and not spam 😂

I’m so grateful God brought our paths back together — what an honor to witness such a special and fun day. Thank you for thinking of me and for trusting me to document this new chapter in your life 🫶🏻

Thank you, Lord, for making me a mother. This precious life you’ve entrusted to me is a gift from you. The challenges of motherhood are many, but greater still is your faithfulness. My patience has never been so stretched, my flaws never so exposed, my heart never so vulnerable—yet never have I loved so deeply. Never have I cared so profoundly, or known such overflowing joy. Motherhood is a gift I do not take for granted.

“The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.”
— Lamentations 3:22–23

I had this vision of photographing a postpartum woman a couple of years ago. I find it paradoxical—the body that’s so celebrated while carrying, yet so often wished away after delivery. Understandably so, but it feels like it should be honored and embraced. It is the body that grows, carries, nourishes, holds, and delivers the precious life that God purposely and wonderfully knits together inside a mother’s womb.

So I decided to have my own postpartum body documented—the stretch marks, the dark line, the loose skin, the folds, the scar, the hair loss, and the life that came from it all. This was the aftermath, four months postpartum. It was vulnerable, yet so close to my heart. The texture reminds me of tree rings—each mark reflecting growth, change, and time. The more rings a tree has, the maturer and more enduring it becomes. These marks are a testament to the miracle of life, telling a story of endurance, beauty, and transformation.

As my body continues to heal and change, I pray that each time I see the marks and traces that may or may not fade, I will be reminded of His grace and extend that grace to myself, for He has expanded my heart tenfold..

Big shoutout to Nichole for doing this shoot for me. Words cannot express how grateful I am to have this journey documented. Thank you not only for documenting this so perfect but also for your encouragement along the way 🤍
