I've always hoped that my kids would fall in love with sun rises and sunsets the way I did. As a photographer, I always notice when there is pretty light happening, and I've always made it a point to show my kids, so they can notice it too. It's just something that brings a little spark of joy to me.

Yesterday morning the sky was absolutely beautiful, as a thunderstorm was rolling through and the sun was coming up. Madden had popped outside to see how warm it was, and he comes running in the house, " MOM! You have GOT to see this!" He grabs me by the hand and pulls me outside to view the beautiful pinks, oranges, and blues happening overhead. I took the moment in, realizing I've planted the seed for a lifetime of joy. Because I won't always be here, but the sun will always rise and set again. And every time my kids stop to watch the sky turn gold, they'll smile and say "this was always my mom's thing"

Your kids don’t scare me

I’ve photographed shy kids.
Wild kids.
Emotional kids.
Non-stop-moving kids.
Special needs kids.
Refuse to smile kids.
Kids with gigantic personalities that their little bodies can hardly contain it.

I don’t expect perfection.
Just their personality.

And I know how to work with it. I'll do everything in my power to get you the 'smiling and looking at the camera' photo, but I can almost guarantee that won't even be your favorite photo in your gallery.

Your child doesn’t have to “behave.” They just have to be themselves. That’s where the magic happens.
