I’m now convinced that one of the greatest moments for a man is watching his son surpass him. Duke has started pushing me over that last couple years and it started showing when we raced from Maui to Molokai but he has officially surpassed me in the North Shore Junior Guards Run Swim Run. I can no longer use uncontrolled variables as excuses for losing and the baton has been passed. Occasionally I will get him in a foil race but the run-swim-run is a fair test piece and he absolutely smoked me. He is growing in character, in faith, in work ethic, financial literacy, and in so many ways. As a father I have given up so much to my children and there is no greater calling on this side of heaven than to put others ahead. I hope for every many to be fortunate enough to find a woman how finds so much security and strength in him enough to create a family together with more children then you think you want. This has been the most meaningful pursuit in life. To those still searching or struggling with fertility, keep fighting the good fight.
