Century III Mall.. What was once considered the crown jewel of retail in the Pittsburgh area now sits empty and abandoned with no foreseeable future.. I never got to actually visit when it was open but, I've heard a lot of stories about people spending their childhood and teen years here. It makes me sad to see such a huge structure sit empty when it could be repurposed for something else such as office space or living space.. This is a sad reality for many malls not only in the U.S. but, around the world. Physical retail is already in a bad state due to the surge in online shopping and COVID-19 has even further damaged the physical retail market..
