When your child has to have heart surgery...
I haven't posted on this page in months...my camera was in need of repair, and I was in the hospital with my newborn daughter Cora while she had 3 open heart surgeries. We tragically lost our sweet Cora at 30 days old. Since losing our baby girl, My life has drastically changed. I joined the Pediatric Congenital Heart Association (PCHA), I've written letters to CEOs to invite them to raise awareness for Congenital Heart Defects, and I began designing and sewing swaddle blankets with heart defect anatomy on them. Earlier today I visited a friend, whom I met when her and I were both pregnant with our little girls, both of them having Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome(HLHS), which means they were born with only half their hearts. While visiting, I also delivered 74 donated blankets that I made to the Cardiac ICU and met with a social worker to get started in my role as Bereavement Coordinator for the PCHA. Needless to say, today was a very productive and healing day for me, being able to visit with my friend and snuggle her little cutie was just bliss. Baby Beth has been recovering better than ANY other HLHS baby I have ever seen! I was blessed with the opportunity to photograph her today swaddled in one of my HLHS blankets, and she rocked the entire shoot! Let's show this sweet half-hearted warrior some LOVE!!!
