Dead Pool Falls on a misty morning on the Dead River - Oct 2022

Very excited now to be counting down the day to my October "Set Me Free" 2 week road trip tour of the Lake Superior Region. Only 18 days and counting.

Explorations, the hum of the road under my tires, mom and pop bars and restaurants, pasty's, meet up with friends, photography, early sunrise and late sunset light and the crisp chilly breeze off the lakes.

Camp fires, crunch of leaves under my feet, sleep better then I've had in the past year, and not knowing where I'm going to end up the next day.

The grand finale to my year and Gods Grand finale to the seasons before a long winter hibernation.

The times you look back on at the end of your life that made it worth living.

Classic Laker Cason J Callaway (1952) of the Great Lakes Fleet takes on stone at Drummond Island under a calm but moody late September sky.

I cant recall the year exactly but I believe it was roughly 2021?

Behind Cason, Drummond Islander IV car ferry shuttles locals, tourists and trucks on and off the island.

You can always tell autumn is creeping in when you start to notice these unique to Sept/Oct purple sky's. One of my favorite signals that the years grand finale is about to begin.

Packing up from the last trip of the year at Hayes State Park.

Usually we do another in October on her break but this year we're doing Mackinac Island without the dogs and camper...

If you're wondering where Kodak is, he's chilling in the AC of the truck.

We love being the last ones out. Use up as much time as we can! Summer close out!

Night lights and the timeless face and personality of the city of Houghton...
..which includes the historical and ornate Douglas House Hotel and the Portage Lake Lift Bridge.

Slivers of the evenings' remaining light paints though openings in the clouds in the falling dark.

This is a section of Greenstone Falls in the Porcupine Mtns Wilderness State Park.

It was getting later in the day so it was pretty much getting dark down in the forest but the tops of some of the October maples above were taking on some of the remaining direct light of the evening... and sending it down to the reflections in the waters below.
