Last week, DownSouth Sports Magazine kicked off its Game of the Week coverage with a Thursday Night Lights showdown between the reigning state champion Sterlington Panthers and the Franklin Parish Patriots.
The matchup lived up to the hype, delivering plenty of excitement as Sterlington pulled away with a hard-fought 42–30 victory.
Sterlington running back Devyn Downs ( #1) earned DownSouth Sports Magazine Most Valuable Player honors after an outstanding all-around performance. Downs rushed for 71 yards and two touchdowns, added 64 receiving yards, and contributed another 65 yards on punt returns.

Congratulations to the Ruston High School Boys basketball team for advancing to the Division 1 Non-Select State Championship game on Saturday, March 14th, against Zachary. The Ruston "Big 3" lead the way - Darren Ford (26 points), Keshun Malcom (24 points), and Ahmad Hudson (19 points).
