Tonight is the night! The YWCA Cass Clay Women of the Year event is officially here. I always look forward to my annual headshot day with the nominees, and getting to meet this year’s group of 35 women was truly a highlight :)

You can find all of their portraits on my website here: https://www.brittathephotographer.com/real-classic-team-headshots/2026-ywca-nominees

If you can’t make it in person tonight, you can still grab a virtual ticket through the YWCA website to cheer them on (and supoport an AMAZING cause): https://www.ywcacassclay.org/events/womenoftheyear

Spring event season has officially begun! My April is chock-full of them, and last week it started off with a colorful bang at Hope Blooms's Petals for a Purpose event held at the Fargo Air Museum.

I love this organization, its people, and their amazing mission ❤

Non-Profit EventPetals for a purpose ‘26Hope Blooms’ annual spring fundraiser was a masterclass in color and community. Held again at the Fargo Air Museum, the evening was exactly what we’ve come to expect from this incredible nonprofit: a joyful celebration filled with fresh florals, heart, a...

Late last year, I hit a creative slump.

Slumps are not uncommon in my line of work. I have heard plenty of accounts from creative friends who have fallen into times of apathy, inspiration droughts, and outright creative depression.

I, too, have had a slump or two in my career. I now know to expect that they will happen, react in some way, and then eventually find my way back. In the past, I've dug out in pretty extreme ways. I've rebranded a couple of times, quit photographing weddings, and even purchased a building.
This time, I decided that instead of doing something drastic, maybe I needed to go back to basics.

So, during holiday break, in an inspirational epiphany, it came to me: I would become a student again. Not in a formal way (I currently don't have time for that, y'all), but through self-led exploration.

At the start of 2026, I began my journey. One aspect of learning would be to do deep dives on accomplished creatives. To start, I put a list of names, mostly photographers, into a bucket. Each month (or so I told myself, though I've already changed my rules!) I would choose one name and learn all about that person.
The first name I chose was Henri Cartier-Bresson, the godfather of street photography.

(Interested in what I found? I wrote a whole darn thing on my blog. Link attached here.)

This project is just one of the things I have planned for the year. It has been a joy to step back into a student’s shoes and embrace the fact that the more you know, the more you realize how much you have yet to learn.

How lucky Cartier Bresson was to have this gift, and how hard he must have worked to reach the point of knowing 100% the kind of storyteller he wanted to be. It is clear to me that my own photographer influences were influenced by him.

The art of travel is one of those things I feel in my soul, but haven’t been the best at executing.

A few years ago, after the hundredth daydream of taking my kids on an epic adventure out of the Midwest, I finally started saving for a trip. We originally planned to take their first big adventure to Europe, but we decided to stay stateside and explore the most International city in the world: New York City.

My goal of hooking my kids on travel was achieved. They adored NYC. It's busy. It's beautiful. It's absolutely magical in the most human way possible. Plus, there is an absolute abundance of $1.50 pizza (which totally won the 11-year-old over.)

As a photographer, I saw photos everywhere. But my role on this trip was mom and to keep everyone alive, happy, and out of New Yorkers' way. So, I took photos when I could and slightly mourned the images that passed me on the bustling streets.

I can't wait to go back to capture a fraction of this beautiful city.

It had been about 17 years since I last visited the city, and while so much has changed, the core energy has not. From the moment we stepped off the plane, I felt like we were on a fast-moving conveyor belt. The city can easily overwhelm your senses and somehow make you feel like you are part of som

It's so rewarding to watch my clients grow their businesses.

This is the third shoot I've had with Jordyn from It's a part of..., a therapeutic collective located here in Fargo, and each time she adds one (or two!) awesome new team members.

It's an open secret here that I LOVE photographing therapists. They're my favorite kind of humans.

I love it when clients allow me to go on a bit of a photo adventure.

Last December, I headed out to rural Menahga to photograph the operations at Renneberg Hardwoods.

They needed some updated photos for marketing materials, and it came at just the time I was craving a bit of a photo adventure.

I had a blast documenting the scale of the lumber yard. It was a feast of details, textures, and contrast.

I LOVE photographing annual updates of kiddos in the studio.

It’s been nearly a month since Giving Hearts Day.

What another amazing event! This year, the community raised over $30 million for local charities. I always have so much fun documenting the behind-the-scenes action for Dakota Medical Foundation , and this year was no exception.

It's always so fun to experience an artist in their natural element.

I recently spent some time documenting the beginning stages of Alicia Hauff Studio in her fresh, new space. We wanted to capture the vibe of the space for her upcoming marketing, and it is every bit as bright and inspiring as her work.

Wanna see it for yourself? You can find her at the new studio for an open house this Thursday, March 5, between 6 and 8 PM at 3929 51st Street South, Fargo.

Unstuffy ContentAlicia Hauff StudioArtist Alicia Hauff recently opened a new studio in south Fargo. The space is gorgeous and filled with natural light, much like her own artwork. While it serves as a home for her creative process, Alicia also hopes it will become a collaborative, creative hub.I rec...

I’m always thrilled by how much joy y’all allow me to capture in just 10 quick minutes.

This year, I photographed 22 amazing families as part of my annual Merry Happy Holiday Sessions. This is my only mini-session offering for families, and I'm always pleased when it fills with faces I know and love from all the eras of my career.

A bit of a warning: there were SO MANY DARN moments, so please pardon the crazy amount of images in this gallery. It was hard to narrow down :)

Kids + FamilyMerry Happy HOliday Sessions 2025The 2025 Merry Happy Holiday Sessions brought 22 families into the studio for my only mini session event of the year.
