Yellowstone River sunrise in Hayden Valley. The warm geothermal waters that keep the river free of ice in the winter creates waves of mist on cold mornings. On this frigid morning the sunrise light created a beautiful pink glow across the sky and the mist rising from the river.

Lamar Valley is a Seregenti of wildlife with herds of bison, elk, pronghorn and big horn sheep along with bears, wolves, coyotes, foxes and many other species.

During the winter, the herds shelter in the valley waiting for springtime when they will migrate to the higher elevations. Winter is a magical time in the valley where you can observe bison and elk trudging through the snow.

The Old Patriarch is a 1500 year old stately limber pine located on the sage flats near the base of the Teton Mountains.

This is a fun tree to photograph, especially at sunrise, with its aged weathered auburn trunk and distinctive shape. The background of towering peaks of the Tetons provides endless compositions to consider.

A stunning glacial lake at the base of the Grand Teton peak with the top portion of Teton Glacier visible to the right. The green color of the lake is the result of glacial rock dust suspended in the water that creates a deep green color when the sun shines on it.

Lion Geyser & Heart Spring. Located in the Upper Geyser Basin, I have been trying to capture this image for several years. It was an amazing sunset as the clouds turned bright red which reflected in the heart spring pool as the Lion Geyser suddenly erupted.

Flood Geyser Sunset, Yellowstone National Park, WY. This erratic geyser is perched alongside the Firehole River. I have been trying to photograph it for several years but it is unpredictable. I was fortunate to capture it erupting at sunset creating this beautiful scene with the river.
