Taking the morning slow in Marquette with Starbucks and a view that makes you wish every workday started like this.

Lake Superior doesn't care about your to-do list. It just sits there, looking absolutely stunning, reminding you that some things are worth stopping for.

That's kind of how I think about portraits too. Life moves fast. The kids get taller, the seasons change, and before you know it you're wondering why you never made time for photos. Don't be that person.

Most of my social media posts are about other people's families. This one is all mine.

That is my daughter Shelby you are looking at, and yes, she is exactly where she is supposed to be. Shelby is one of the Drum Majors for the NMU "Pride of the North" Marching Band, which means she is the one on the podium leading the entire band in front of a stadium dome full of people.

She was also just interviewed by TV6 ahead of the first show of the 2026 season, which is where you may have spotted her this week. If you didn’t, let me help you out with that. Link below.

Watching your kid talk confidently on the news about something she has worked hard for is a feeling you cannot quite describe from behind a camera.

The first NMU home football game is this Saturday, September 5th at 6pm, and the band performs the pre-game show before kickoff. If you can get to Marquette, go watch it live.

Not all offices have a clock tower and golden hour light. Mine does.

THREE senior sessions at Belle Isle this week — and yes, I'm fully aware that my "office" is one of the most beautiful spots in Michigan. The historic Casino building, warm summer light, and some pretty amazing seniors who trusted me with one of the biggest portrait moments of their lives.

This is why I do what I do. Every session out here reminds me that great portraits aren't just about the camera — they're about the location, the light, and the person in front of the lens.

Behold my copilots for the day — a Strawberry Acai Lemonade (it's basically a smoothie, it's FINE) and a bottle of Gaviscon, because life is about balance.

Somewhere between session prep, client emails, and running a whole photography studio out of a 2,000 sq ft space in downtown Mount Clemens... a girl's gotta hydrate AND self-medicate accordingly.

This is what small business ownership actually looks like, and I wouldn't trade it for anything. (Well, maybe better acid reflux.)

So here's something you don't see from me very often.

I retired from newborn photography a while back — it's a specialty all its own, and I made peace with passing the torch. But when your high school friend asks you to photograph her grandbaby?

Yeah. I couldn't say no.

This little one showed up in the most adorable knit bear outfit, curled up like they'd been practicing peaceful for months, and absolutely melted every ounce of professional restraint I had left. I'd say I regret nothing, but I'm also not responsible for what happens if you show me this photo and ask me to do your newborn session. (Spoiler: the answer is still no.)

What I WILL say is: thank you for trusting me with this tiny, perfect moment. It meant everything.

And to my high school friend — you're going to be the best grandma. This baby has no idea how lucky they are.

Hi. It's me. I'm back.

Life has a funny way of hijacking your plans — and for a while, mine hijacked my posting schedule something fierce. But here I am, sitting on my studio couch, camera in hand, and absolutely zero regrets about taking a breather from social media.

The studio hasn't gone anywhere. I've actually been IN it, shooting beautiful sessions with incredible people, nerding out over new wall art finishes, and occasionally talking to myself about prop organization (still unresolved). I just... forgot to tell the interwebs about it.
